Band steering for a low power device
An access point is configured to communicate with a wireless client device over a plurality of wireless communication channels. The wireless client device has an active operation state and a standby operation state. The access point detects a property of each of a first wireless communication channel and a second wireless communication channel, and applies a policy to the detected properties to select one of the first wireless communication channel and the second wireless communication channel. While the wireless client device is in the active operation state, the access point steers the client device to communicate with the access point over the selected channel.
HAZARD INDICATOR
Apparatuses, machine-readable media, and methods related to hazard indicators are described. Determining whether hazards exists and the location of a hazard can be helpful when moving about. Computing devices (e.g., mobile devices and/or cloud-based computers) can be configured to run an application (e.g., a hazard indication tool) to determine that a hazard exists and indicate to a user of a computing device that the hazard exists according to examples of the present disclosure. A user can carry a mobile device with them while they are walking or running. The mobile device can include a number of sensors (e.g., image sensors, microphones, infrared (IR) sensors, ultrasonic sensors, location sensors) to generate data that can be used by a hazard indication tool to determine if a hazard exists. The hazard indication tool can output a warning that indicates to a user that a hazard exists, an alternate route to avoid the hazard, and/or generate a hazard library that other users can use to obtain information about hazards.
Fiber optic connector with field installable outer connector housing
An optical connector includes a first sub-assembly that is factory-installed to a first end of an optical fiber and a second sub-assembly that is field-installed to the first end of the optical fiber. The optical fiber and first sub-assembly can be routed through a structure (e.g., a building) prior to installation of the second sub-assembly. The second sub-assembly interlocks with the first sub-assembly to inhibit relative axial movement therebetween. Example first sub-assemblies include a ferrule, a hub, and a strain-relief sleeve that mount to an optical fiber. Example second sub-assemblies include a mounting block; and an outer connector housing forming a plug portion.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO EVALUATE, CORRECT, AND MONITOR USER ATTENTIVENESS
In an aspect, a system for using artificial intelligence to evaluate, correct, and monitor user attentiveness includes a forward-facing camera, the forward-facing camera configured to capture a video feed of a field of vision on a digital screen, at least a user alert mechanism configured to output a directional alert to a user, a processing unit in communication with the forward-facing camera and the at least a user alert mechanism, a screen location to spatial location map operating on the processing unit, and a motion detection analyzer operating on the processing unit, the motion detection analyzer designed and configured to detect, on the digital screen, a rapid parameter change, determine a screen location on the digital screen of the rapid parameter change, retrieve, from the screen location to spatial location map, a spatial location based on the screen location, and generate, using the spatial location, the directional alert.
CAMERA COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SELECTION
Adjusting communication channels used by camera to communicate with a base station are described. In one aspect, characteristics of communication channels can be determined and the operation of the camera can be adjusted to use a communication channel based on a comparison of the characteristics of multiple communication channels.
TRANSCODING IN SECURITY CAMERA CAMERA APPLICATIONS
The disclosure is related to adaptive transcoding of video streams from a camera. A camera system includes a camera and a base station connected to each other in a first communication network, which can be a wireless network. When a user requests to view a video from the camera, the base station obtains a video stream from the camera, transcodes the video stream, based on one or more input parameters, to generate a transcoded video stream, and transmits the transcoded video stream to a user device. The base station can transcode the video stream locally, e.g., within the base station, or in a cloud network based on transcoding location factors. Further, the camera system can also determine whether to stream the video to the user directly from the base station or from the cloud network based on streaming location factors.
System, method and apparatus for remote monitoring
A monitoring unit for security and automation in a premises are described. The monitoring unit uses remote configuration and control to enable monitoring of a premises. The monitoring unit provides multiple monitoring functions to respond to events within the space and alert a user at a remote device like a smartphone. An image sensor provides a wide field of view which can be segmented on the mobile device to enable specific areas to be viewed enabling the user to view the area and be alerted when an event occurs based upon a rules based configuration.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MONITORING A POTENTIAL HAZARD AT AN UNOCCUPIED TRANSPORT UNIT AND ISSUING A NOTIFICATION IN RESPONSE TO DETECTING THE HAZARD
A method for monitoring a potential hazard at an unoccupied transport unit and issuing a notification in response to detecting the potential hazard is provided. The method includes monitoring for the potential hazard at the unoccupied transport unit. The method also includes determining whether there is someone is in close proximity to the unoccupied transport unit upon determining the potential hazard. Also, the method includes providing a local notification of the potential hazard when it is determined that there is someone is in close proximity to the unoccupied transport unit and not providing the local notification of the potential hazard when it is determined that there is no one in close proximity to the unoccupied transport unit.
Ordering instructions device
An ordering indication device for use in restaurants, guest houses, hotels, catering companies, and the like, the ordering indication device including an input means, which can be operated by a guest, a communications interface, an optical indicator means, and a control unit, wherein the setting of the brightness of the one or more first light sources and the setting of the brightness of the one or more second light sources depend on an environmental condition, wherein the input means is operatively connected to the optical indicator means via the control unit such that the optical indicator means signals the activation process of the input means by means of an optical signal, following an activation of the optical indicator means by the input means, wherein the optical indicator means, following activation thereof, outputs an optical continuous signal, which can be deactivated.
MULTI-SENSOR MOTION DETECTION
Use of multiple sensors to determine whether motion of an object is occurring in an area is described. In one aspect, an infrared (IR) sensor can be supplemented with a radar sensor to determine whether the determined motion of an object is not a false positive.
