A security device for an electrically powered device includes a remote location-tracking circuit for mounting in a power plug or power cable, a control means for mounting in the power plug or power cable with the remote location-tracking circuit, an immobilizing circuit which is a power shut-down circuit for immobilizing a tool positioned within the tool casing, wherein the power shut-down circuit includes a relay; and a power cable connected between the control means and power shut-down circuit, the power cable being adapted to supply power to the tool, and the power shut-down circuit being controlled by the control means, wherein if the remote location-tracking circuit is removed by severing the power cable, thereby disconnecting the control means from the power shut-down circuit, the power shut-down circuit is configured to automatically shut down the power supply to the tool via the relay until the control means is re-connected.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to security systems for securing an item of merchandise from theft or unauthorized removal. For example, the security system may include a sensor configured to be coupled to the item of merchandise, wherein the sensor includes an electrical connector. The security system also includes a base configured to removably support the sensor thereon, wherein the base includes an electronics module having a connector. The connector of the sensor and the connector of the electronics module are configured to electrically connect with one another when the sensor is supported on the base, and the sensor is configured to detect unauthorized removal of the item of merchandise from the sensor.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for displaying and securing articles of merchandise. In one example, a merchandise security system includes a plurality of security devices, wherein each of the security devices includes a sensor configured to be attached to an article of merchandise. Each of the security devices further includes a base for removably supporting the sensor and the article of merchandise thereon. The system also includes a controller in communication with each of the security devices, wherein the controller is configured to communicate with a remote device to lock at least one of the security devices such that the article of merchandise and the sensor cannot be removed from the base.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems, devices, and methods for displaying and securing articles of merchandise. In one example, a merchandise security system includes a plurality of security devices. Each of the security devices is configured to be attached to an article of merchandise and includes an illumination source for generating a light signal. The system also includes at least one computing device configured to communicate with the illumination sources in order to obtain data from the security devices and/or the articles of merchandise. Each of the security devices is configured to configured to generate a security signal in response to removal of the article of merchandise from the security device.

To this end, the electronic device, according to various embodiments, comprises: a connection terminal; and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to: detect a connection with a locking device via the connection terminal; receive an identifier of the locking device from the locking device; identify the received identifier to set the electronic device in an alert mode; detect a disconnection between the electronic device and the locking device; and output an alert in response to the detected disconnection. The present invention provides a system and method of merchandise security. The system includes a security device, comprising at least a first communication interface, configured to be capable of simultaneously communicating with one or more controllers. A controller, comprising at least a second communication interface configured to be capable of communicating with one or more security devices simultaneously. The method uses a controller with system identity number to initialize the security device which directly or indirectly attached to the merchandise, and to operate the initialized device. The present invention can realize communication between the security device and the controller through a wireless channel, in the communication process, through the generation of the system identity number, the security device can simultaneously implement the point-to-point communication and a point-to-surface communication.

A component tracking system includes a plurality of devices that each include a device component monitoring subsystem that monitors for and records the addition and/or removal of device components to/from that device. A device component manager system that is coupled to each of the plurality of devices identifies, via a recording by a first device monitoring subsystem in a first device included in the plurality of devices, the removal of a first device component from the first device. The device component manager system then determines, via a recording by a second device component monitoring subsystem in a second device included in the plurality of devices, that the first device component has been added to the second device within a time period and, in response, the device component manager device prevents a removed first device component alarm.
