The present invention provides a multi-voltage power supply system for merchandise security, including a sensor configured to be connected to a plurality of merchandise, respectively, and an alarm including at least one interface for connecting the sensor, wherein the alarm is configured to be able to receive power and a safety signal from the sensor; the sensor is configured to be connectable to a power adapter via a power interface and to power the connected merchandise and/or alarm. In the present invention, the sensor is connected to an external power adapter, and the external power adapter supplies power to the sensor, and then the sensor supplies power to other components in a merchandise or an security system, such as the alarm, thereby reducing the input ports of the external power source and enabling the display of the security system more concise.
Merchandise security system including retractable alarming power cord
A merchandise security system for an electronic item of merchandise is provided. In one example, the merchandise security system includes a continuous alarming power cord comprising at least one electrical conductor. The alarming power cord has a first end adapted to be electrically connected to the electronic item of merchandise and a second end. The merchandise security system also includes a reel for receiving the second end of the alarming power cord and adapted for storing at least a portion of the alarming power cord thereon. In addition, the merchandise security system includes monitoring circuitry in electrical communication with the alarming power cord and configured to detect an interruption in an electrical signal provided to the alarming power cord.
Timestamp-based security device registration
A method of registering a security sensor device with a product device to be protected via the security sensor device includes obtaining sensor data identifying the security sensor device and including a sensor timestamp for an alteration in power delivery to the security sensor device, obtaining product data identifying the product device and including a product timestamp for an alteration in power delivery to the product device, implementing a comparison of the sensor timestamp and the product timestamp, and generating registration data for the security sensor device and the product device based on the comparison, the registration data associating the security sensor device and the product device.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROTECTING RETAIL DISPLAY MERCHANDISE FROM THEFT
Security systems and methods for protecting retail display merchandise from theft are provided. For example, a security system includes a sensor configured to removably engage an input port of an item of merchandise, and a monitoring component configured to wirelessly communicate with the sensor and to removably support the sensor thereon, wherein the monitoring component and the sensor are configured to communicate with one another to determine a proximity of the item of merchandise relative to the monitoring component, wherein the monitoring component and/or the sensor is configured to initiate a security signal when the proximity between the monitoring component and the sensor is not within a predetermined range, and wherein the monitoring component and/or the sensor is configured to initiate a security signal in response to the sensor being removed from the input port of the item of merchandise.
SECURITY CONNECTOR
In one example, a connector for providing security to an article of merchandise is provided, wherein the article of merchandise includes an input port and internal circuitry. The connector includes a connection portion configured to releasably engage the input port of the article of merchandise. The connector also includes a conductive shield and at least one pair of ground conductors. At least one of the ground conductors is configured to electrically connect to the conductive shield to define a sense loop when the connector is engaged with the article of merchandise. Interruption of the sense loop is indicative of a security event.
Recoiler for a merchandise security system
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to recoilers, merchandise security systems, and methods for displaying and protecting an article of merchandise from theft. In one example, the merchandise security system includes a sensor configured to be secured to the article of merchandise and a base for removably supporting the sensor and the item of merchandise thereon. The system also includes a recoiler operably coupled to the sensor. The recoiler includes a rotatable member defining a helical recess. The system further includes a cable configured to connect to the sensor and to be unwound from and wound on the rotatable member as the cable is extended and retracted. The cable is configured to be extended from the recoiler in response to the sensor being lifted off of the base, and the cable is configured to be retracted into the recoiler in response to the sensor being moved to a seated position on the base. The helical recess is configured to at least partially receive the cable therein as the cable is wound on the rotatable member.
Method and apparatus for protecting data in a portable electronic device
Data in a portable electronic device is protected by using external and internal status detection means to determine if the device is misplaced, lost, or stolen. The device then takes, singly or in combination, one of several actions to protect the data on the device, including declaring its location to an owner or service provider, locking the device or specific functions of the device to disable all data retrieval functionality, erasing or overwriting all the stored data in the device or, where the data has been stored in the device in an encrypted format, destroying an internally-stored encryption key, thereby preventing unauthorized access to the encrypted data in the device.
SECURITY SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONSUMER PRODUCTS
