Method and apparatus for concealing sensors in urban and industrial environments
09830796 · 2017-11-28 ·

The present invention provides a method of monitoring the position of a vehicle, vessel, rail car, barge, tanker truck that is loaded with bulk or hazardous material. A G.P.S unit is set to send a signal to a radio transmitter if the unit moves beyond a maximum permissible distance (for example, 50 feet or more). An oxygen sensor can be used to send a signal to a radio transmitter if oxygen levels fall below a selected minimum concentration. The radio transmitter can send the message to a tugboat crew, police department, fire department, company headquarters, civil defense office or other personnel if either of the unit has moved beyond the selected maximum travel distance or if oxygen levels fall below a minimum concentration. In addition to the radio transmission of oxygen concentration data and/or G.P.S position data, visible or audible alarms can be used such as strobe light, horn or the like. Also disclosed is a system for concealment of chemical and/or biological sensors in a building for urban or industrial environments.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROTECTING RETAIL DISPLAY MERCHANDISE FROM THEFT

Security systems and methods configured for use with an item of merchandise for retail display include a housing, at least one sensor carried by the housing and at least one output device carried by the housing. The security system further includes a controller carried by the housing and operably coupled to the sensor and to the output device. The controller is operable to determine a distance traveled by the item of merchandise from a retail display “home” position based upon a sensor input from the sensor, and to activate the output device based upon the distance traveled by the item of merchandise exceeding a threshold distance. The controller may utilize the at least one sensor in conjunction with an inertial navigation system (INS) and motion processing algorithms or techniques to determine the distance traveled by the item of merchandise from the retail display “home” position.

Wireless device and methods for use in a paging network

A wireless device includes a user interface that generates a pairing signal in response to an indication from a user to pair the wireless device to at least one remote device and generates a first location request signal in response to a second indication from a user to locate the at least one remote device. A short-range wireless transceiver communicates RF signals to pair the wireless device to the at least one remote device and that transmits a first RF paging signal to the at least one remote device in response to the location request signal.

User Intervention Based on Proximity Between Tracking Devices

A tracking system can provide intervention notifications to a user to notify the user that a tracking device is potentially lost or is in a predicted state. The tracking system may notify the user that a tracking device is potentially lost or in a predicted state based on a number of factors, including: a proximity of a tracking device to other tracking devices or a user's mobile device, a movement of a tracking device to more than a threshold distance away from a mobile device or other tracking devices, a location of a tracking device relative to a geographic location or to geographic boundaries, a usage or movement behavior of the tracking device, a usage or movement behavior of a user or owner of a tracking device, information received from an external source, or information received from sensors within the tracking device or a user's mobile.

System and method for registration of a network enabled location tracking device

Systems and methods for registering a location tracking device affixed to an item or other merchandise with a cellular or mobile network provider associated with the purchaser are described herein. In some cases, user equipment in physical proximity to the location tracking device may establish a connection with the location tracking device to facilitate the registration process between the network provider and the location tracking device. Once the registration is complete, the location tracking device may establish a direct connection with the cellular or mobile network of the network provider such that the network provider is able to monitor the location of the location tracking device.

Separation alert device

A separation alert device for warning a user of separation from an item includes a housing that defines an internal space. The housing is configured for retention on the user's person. A power module, a microprocessor, a first proximity sensor and a plurality of alarms are coupled to the housing and are positioned in the internal space. The microprocessor is operationally coupled to the power module. The first proximity sensor and the alarms are operationally coupled to the microprocessor. A second proximity sensor is in wireless communication with the microprocessor. The second proximity sensor is coupled to an item that the user desires to retain proximate to the user. The microprocessor is positioned to receive a location signal from the second proximity sensor. Separation of the first proximity sensor by a preset distance from the second proximity sensor will compel the microprocessor to compel the alarms to notify the user.

SECURITY SYSTEM

Provided is a security system for secure delivery of valuable goods. The security system includes an asset, and a portable container for transporting the valuable goods to or from the asset. An alarm system is provided for generating an alarm upon the portable container being stolen. Advantageously, the alarm system may reduce the likelihood of successful CIT armed robbery in which the portable container is stolen, thereby deterring the CIT armed robbery altogether.

Theft sensing system for fusion splicer device and fusion splicer device

Disclosed is a theft sensing system for sensing a theft of a fusion splicer by using an information terminal. The system includes a wireless communication unit that enables the fusion splicer to perform wireless communication with the information terminal, an authentication processing unit that performs an authentication process such that the fusion splicer and the information terminal are wirelessly connected to each other, an acquisition unit that acquires wireless situation data between the fusion splicer and the information terminal which are wirelessly connected to each other, a decision unit that decides whether the fusion splicer moves in a direction away from the information terminal based on a change in the wireless situation data acquired by the acquisition unit, and a notification unit that performs a predetermined notification process in the information terminal when the decision unit decides that the fusion splicer moves in the direction away from the information terminal.

Collective objects management system with enhanced security
09792790 · 2017-10-17 · ·

A collective objects management system with enhanced security for objects contained in object receptacles distributed throughout the system. Each object receptacle has a microcontroller with a unique system address which enables generation of a response signal whenever an incoming address from a source is a match. An object container microcontroller periodically polls the object receptacle microcontrollers in the cabinet and stores an updated version of the cabinet object data base. When an object is detected as missing, the object container microcontroller checks whether the absence of the object was authorized by a host computer. If not, a local alarm is activated and the host computer is informed. The host computer can take additional security measures.

Method for estimating a quantity of a blood component in a fluid receiver and corresponding error

A method and system for communicating estimated blood loss parameters of a patient to a user, the method comprising: receiving data representative of an image, of a fluid receiver; automatically detecting a region within the image associated with a volume of fluid received at the fluid receiver, the volume of fluid including a blood component; calculating an estimated amount of the blood component present in the volume of fluid based upon a color parameter represented in the region, and determining a bias error associated with the estimated amount of the blood component; updating an analysis of an aggregate amount of the blood component and an aggregate bias error associated with blood loss of the patient, based upon the estimated amount of the blood component and the bias error; and providing information from the analysis of the aggregate amount of the blood component and the aggregate bias error, to the user.
