An vehicle with abandoned occupant alert system incorporates a pad having a global positioning tracking device, a radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip, a wireless transmitter, and a temperature gauge. The pad also comprises a heating and cooling mechanism which is activated in response to the interior temperature of the vehicle. The pad is configured to transmit a signal to an electronic device equipped with an application which alerts a user to the presence of an individual of sufficient weight sitting upon the pad in an unoccupied vehicle the engine of which has been shut off.

A baby walker comprises sensors and control mechanisms to detect dangerous situations and to stop or substantially slow the baby walker. The baby walker uses proximity sensors, position sensors, presence sensors, and/or communication modules in order to assess the environment for the safety of the child. It also includes a controller that can apply a brake to the wheel assembly to stop or substantially slow the baby walker so as to protect the baby from entering dangerous regions or come in close proximity to objects. The baby walker may further receive and/or transmit information from an external device which may be operated by the child's guardian to define the borders of dangerous regions or a predefined travel distance.

In a control apparatus for an automated driving vehicle, a receiving unit receives an external start signal that is a signal for starting automated driving in the automated driving vehicle and is transmitted from outside the automated driving vehicle. A control unit performs processes required for automated driving. A person determining unit determines whether a person is present inside a vehicle cabin of the automated driving vehicle. An operating unit is provided inside the vehicle cabin and receives a single or a plurality of operations for starting automated driving in the automated driving vehicle. In response to the person determining unit determining that a person is present inside the vehicle cabin, the control unit does not start automated driving even when the receiving unit receives the external start signal and starts automated driving only when an operation on the operating unit is performed.

Methods, devices, and systems for detecting incapacitation and location using nodes are described herein. One system for detecting incapacitation and location using nodes can include an impact sensor, and a node including a memory and a processor to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to determine an incapacitating event has occurred via the impact sensor, determine a location of the node using a plurality of nodes, where the plurality of nodes include the node, and transmit the incapacitating event and the location of the node to an external server.

Methods and systems for a detecting an intruder near or within a vehicle are disclosed. Specifically, a method to detect and identify a person near or within a vehicle as an authorized or an unauthorized user is provided. In the event an unauthorized user is detected within a vehicle, the system may take a number of actions. In one embodiment, the actions comprise providing notice to one or more authorized users of the vehicle, disabling the vehicle, notifying emergency personnel or police, and emitting a visual or audio alarm.

Various arrangements are presented for issuing an alert based on a baby's behavior. A video stream that images a baby may be received. The video stream may be analyzed to determine the baby is in a non-auditory discomfort state. A notification may be determined to be output to a caregiver based on the determined non-auditory discomfort state. An alert may be output that is indicative of the non-auditory discomfort state to an end-user device.

One system for detecting incapacitation and location using nodes can include an impact sensor, and a node including a memory and a processor to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to determine an incapacitating event has occurred via the impact sensor, determine a location of the node using a plurality of nodes, where the plurality of nodes include the node, and transmit the incapacitating event and the location of the node to an external server.

In accordance with aspects of the inventive concept, provided is a monitoring and alert system that enables one or more monitoring individuals, e.g., parents, to monitor social media usage, Internet usage, application usage, content, communications, location, and/or other aspects of one or more other monitored users, e.g., their children. The monitoring and alert system can utilize social media, electronic communications, cellular data, positioning data, and navigation data, as examples, relating to and/or generated from a monitored user's activity on its mobile device to acquire data used to generate alerts to the corresponding monitoring users.
