Patient Positioning System
A system and method are disclosed for positioning a patient on an operating table. The patient positioning system includes a positioning pad having a body formed from a compressible material including a slip-resistant surface, a first end and a second end. The body has a thickness which increases from the first end of the positioning pad to the second end of the positioning pad. A plurality of tethers is fixedly secured to the body. Each of the tethers includes a fastening member adapted to secure the body to an operating table. The body includes a transverse cut which extends transversely from one side wall of the body to an opposite side wall of the body. The system also includes a sheet positioned within the transverse cut of the body of the positioning pad spaced from the slip-resistant surface of the positioning pad and at least one strap for securing the patient to the operating table. The positioning pad may include a perforated section to mirror a perineal cutout of an operating table.
Method and apparatus for retention of adipose tissue
A tissue retention system to assist in maintaining adipose tissue on a patient in a displaced position during a medical procedure to provide access to a body region of the patient includes an anchor pad having a pad length and a pad width. The anchor pad may include a pad body with an adhesive surface thereon, the adhesive being configured to adhere to a patient's skin. The anchor pad also may include an opposing first attachment surface facing away from the adhesive surface. The tissue retention system also may include a tension member having a second attachment surface.
Devices for applying tension to a patient shoulder and associated installation method
A device comprises an arm cover to be positioned under the arm before being closed thereover, a shoulder strap to be positioned under the shoulder and adapted to wrap the shoulder when attached, over the shoulder, to the closed arm cover and a longitudinal strap to be fixed to the table opposite to the head. The longitudinal strap can apply tension on the shoulder strap when shortened. A method for installing a device on an immobilized patient comprising positioning an arm cover under the arm and a shoulder strap connected to the arm cover under the shoulder, closing the arm cover over the arm and attaching the shoulder strap, over the shoulder, to the closed arm cover, fixing an end of a longitudinal strap, connected to the arm cover, to the table opposite to the head and pulling on the longitudinal strap to apply tension on the shoulder strap.
Surgical positioning system
A surgical positioning system includes a flexible air-impermeable shell filled with beads that is wrapped against the patient and subjected to a vacuum to hold the patient in place. An air-impermeable top wall can be joined with an air-impermeable bottom wall to define a plurality of chambers. Each of the chambers can include a peripheral edge that extends around the periphery of the respective chamber. The plurality of chambers can include a first shoulder chamber, a second shoulder chamber, and a main chamber.
Accessory device, a patient immobilization system, and a method of forming a patient immobilization system
An accessory device and an immobilization system including the device are provided for positioning at least a portion of a patient's body relative to an immobilization device including a low temperature thermoplastic sheet. The accessory device may include a patient fixation portion and a lock portion. The patient fixation portion is attached to or inserted in the patient during use. The lock portion may extend distally from the patient fixation portion generally along a lock portion axis. The lock portion includes a shape, surface feature, or configuration, such that the low temperature thermoplastic sheet may be conformed to the outer surface of the lock portion of the accessory device, such that unintended separation of the accessory device from the low temperature thermoplastic sheet is prevented. Methods of forming the accessory device and immobilization system are also provided.
METHOD AND APPARATUS AND FOR RESTRAINT ANCHOR
An anti-ligature restraint device is provided. The device includes a tub secured to a mounting location. A sealing element is inserted into the tub. The sealing element includes a restraint element slot to which a restraint is secured when the device is in an open position. The sealing element is disposed entirely with the tub in the closed position. A spring within the tub provides resistance to the sealing element as it is pushed into the tub and rotated to secure the sealing element within the tub. A lid lock secures the sealing element in the closed position. The device may be used in the concrete floor of a hospital room. In the open position, the device secures patient restraints. In the closed position, the device is flush with its mounting surface and locked, thereby preventing patient tampering or access to harmful elements thereof.
Harness system for patient transport apparatus
A harness system for a patient transport apparatus. The harness system comprises one or more harness assemblies. Each harness assembly comprises a flexible restraint member formed of a coated fabric and comprising one or more joints in which stitches join sections of the coated fabric. Covers are attached to the coated fabric over the stitches to provide a barrier to outside contaminants and to ease cleaning of the flexible restraint member.
Animal positioner
An animal positioner includes two forelimb positioning members cylindrically attached to forelimbs of an animal, respectively, so as to wrap the forelimbs; two hindlimb positioning members cylindrically attached to hindlimbs of the animal, respectively, so as to wrap the hindlimbs, the two hindlimb positioning members being longer than the forelimb positioning members; a trunk positioning member which is longer than the hindlimb positioning members, the trunk positioning member being cylindrically attached to a trunk of the animal so as to wrap the trunk between the forelimb positioning members which are attached to the forelimbs of the animal, respectively, and the hindlimb positioning members which are attached to the hindlimbs thereof, respectively; and a head positioning member attached to a head of the animal so as to form a truncated cone circumferential surface and wrap the head above the forelimb positioning members.
Method of securing a patient onto an operating table when the patient is in a position such as the Trendelenburg position and apparatus therefor including a kit
A method of securing a patient onto an operating table when the patient is in a position such as the trendelenburg position and apparatus therefor including a kit. A viscoelastic pad is used to support and hold a patient on a medical procedure table during a medical procedure performed while the table, and thus the patient lying thereon, is in an inclined position, such as the Trendelenburg position. The viscoelastic pad has characteristics which promote a minimization of pressure forces on the patient's body, as well as promote a secure cushioning and holding of the patient in a desired position on the table, in order to minimize injury to the patient.
