ACCESSORY DEVICE, A PATIENT IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM, AND A METHOD OF FORMING A PATIENT IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM
An accessory device and an immobilization system including the device are provided for positioning at least a portion of a patient's body relative to an immobilization device including a low temperature thermoplastic sheet. The accessory device may include a patient fixation portion and a lock portion. The patient fixation portion is attached to or inserted in the patient during use. The lock portion may extend distally from the patient fixation portion generally along a lock portion axis. The lock portion includes a shape, surface feature, or configuration, such that the low temperature thermoplastic sheet may be conformed to the outer surface of the lock portion of the accessory device, such that unintended separation of the accessory device from the low temperature thermoplastic sheet is prevented. Methods of forming the accessory device and immobilization system are also provided.
CLASP FOR SECURING FLEXIBLE BANDS
A clasp is configured to permanently interlock around a flexible strip of material and includes first and second interlocking members. Each interlocking member includes a plurality of hooks and a corresponding plurality of recesses, where the recesses of one interlocking member receive the hooks of the other interlocking member to secure a band within the clasp between the interlocking members. The recesses can be completely internal to the clasp to prevent external tampering. Each of the interlocking members can include various protrusions and ribs that compress and secure the band within the clasp, so as to prevent movement of the band between the interlocking members when interlocked.
Protective covering for preexisting affixed medical equipment safety straps
A disposable cover used to protect preexisting affixed safety straps on medical equipment. The cover includes: 2 protective panels and hoop and loop fasteners on the inside for securing the cover to the preexisting affixed strap and hook and loop fasteners on the outer surface to allow the cover to secure to the opposing cover. This disposable protective cover is slipped over the preexisting affixed safety straps that are attached to the medical equipment prior to being used to secure a patients' body/limb to the medical equipment for a procedure, allowing the strap to be protected from infectious fluids.
Head neck immobilization wrap
An immobilization apparatus having at least one or more straps that engage a surface; wherein at least one of the straps comprises a force gauge to determine the amount of force applied to a patient immobilized with said straps; wherein the position of the patient is replicable for treatment of radiation and other head or neck treatments.
Human stabilization platforms and related mattresses
Mattresses for human stabilization may include a mass of foam material. A cover including a fabric material may at least partially surrounding the mass of foam material. Head blocks including a foam material may be located proximate to one end of the mattress. The fabric material of the cover may at least partially cover the head blocks, and the head blocks may be foldable relative to the mass of foam material to enable the head blocks to be positioned against lateral sides of a person's head. Human stabilization platforms may include a litter having a surface sized and shaped to support a person thereabove. Straps may be configured to restrain a person's head, the straps having releasable connectors at ends thereof. A track may be located on the surface of the litter, and may be configured to receive the connectors to affix the straps to the litter.
Tissue retention systems and methods
A tissue retention belt for maintaining tissue in a position that permits access to a body portion of a patient for a medical procedure includes a first anchor zone, a second anchor zone, and a tension zone. The tension zone extends between the first anchor zone and the second anchor zone and defines a tension axis that extends in a direction of loading to be applied to retained tissue. The tension zone may include an auxiliary anchor zone that includes a removable non-adhesive and an adhesive surface configured to adhere to a patient's skin and provide auxiliary anchoring for maintaining tissue in position.
Method and Apparatus for Retention of Adipose Tissue
A tissue retention system to assist in maintaining adipose tissue on a patient in a displaced position during a medical procedure to provide access to a body region of the patient includes an anchor pad having a pad length and a pad width. The anchor pad may include a pad body with an adhesive surface thereon, the adhesive being configured to adhere to a patient's skin. The anchor pad also may include an opposing first attachment surface facing away from the adhesive surface. The tissue retention system also may include a tension member having a second attachment surface.
PATIENT POSITIONING SYSTEM
A system and method are disclosed for positioning a patient on an operating table. The patient positioning system includes a positioning pad having a body formed from a compressible material including a slip-resistant surface, a first end and a second end. The body has a thickness which increases from the first end of the positioning pad to the second end of the positioning pad. A plurality of tethers is fixedly secured to the body. Each of the tethers includes a fastening member adapted to secure the body to an operating table. The body includes a transverse cut which extends transversely from one side wall of the body to an opposite side wall of the body. The system also includes a sheet positioned within the transverse cut of the body of the positioning pad spaced from the slip-resistant surface of the positioning pad and at least one strap for securing the patient to the operating table. The positioning pad may include a perforated section to mirror a perineal cutout of an operating table.
SELF-WRAPPING SAFETY DEVICE FOR THE PHYSICAL RESTRAINT OF A PERSON
A self-wrapping safety device for the physical restraint of a person, including a main body, provided with a first and second end and configured to get in contact with a person, at least one self-wrapping strip, coupled to the main body, provided with a first and a second end, the main body and at least one self-wrapping strip configured to each other so as to move both from a first position, where the first and second end of the main body are arranged opposite to each other and coplanar and the first and second end of the at least one self-wrapping strip are arranged opposite to each other and coplanar, to a second position, where the self-wrapping strip and the main body are arranged wrapped and rolled up on themselves or around the person.
Integrated belt and sensor for alarm for patient furniture
Systems and methods for monitoring the location of a patient using an integrated belt and sensor for alarm for patient furniture. The belt may include a plurality of straps configured to be releasably attached to one another and an alarm system that is triggered when at least one of the straps is disengaged from the other strap or straps. By requiring multiple straps to be released from one another, the amount of time it takes to remove the belt can be increased, which provides medical personnel additional time to reach a patient. Additionally, the system may include additional components to allow a patient to move side-to-side relative to the furniture or device. For instance, where the furniture is a bed, side-to-side movement is desired for added comfort. The system may include a slider enabling the belt to be adjustable for patients of any number of different sizes.
