MULTI-ZONE BED PAD HAVING HIGH-SPEED DETECTION OF BED EXIT
A sensor pad (105) is adapted to be positioned under or atop a mattress of a patients bed (205) as part of a monitoring system that provides a signal to a caregiver when the patient (305) rises from the bed (205). The pad (105) defines a total area, and wherein the total area is divided into a plurality of zones (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5). A timing of issuance of an alarm triggered by the pad (105) varies based upon which zone (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5) of the pad (105) a patient (305) is detected to be located upon.
Home automation system including changed current usage notification and related methods
A home automation (HA) system may include at least one HA operation device within a restroom of a user living area and an HA hub device to provide communications for the at least one HA operation device. The HA system may also include at least one controller configured to store historical operational data for the at least one HA operation device based upon a user within the restroom, and monitor operation of the at least one HA operation device, and determine therefrom whether current usage of the restroom has changed based upon the historical operational data. The at least one controller may be configured to generate a notification based upon the historical operations data and the determined current usage of the restroom.
System and method for monitoring an individual
In accordance with one or more embodiments herein, a system for monitoring an individual within predetermined facilities 500 in order to determine whether there is a need for setting an alert is provided. The system 100 comprises: a personal module 200 to be worn by the monitored individual, the personal module 200 comprising at least one motion sensor 220; at least one node module 300, with which the personal module 200 is arranged to communicate; a storage means 320; and at least one processing device 210, 310, 160. The at least one processing device 210, 310, 160 may be arranged to: receive sensor data from the at least one motion sensor 220 in the personal module 200; determine whether the received sensor data indicates a specific alert state among a plurality of predetermined alert states, the alert states comprising at least a FALL alert state, to be used if a probable fall has been detected for the monitored individual, and an OUT OF BED alert state, to be used if it has been detected that the monitored individual is probably getting out of bed; determine the distance between the personal module 200 and the at least one node module 300; determine the location of the personal module 200 within the facilities 500 based at least on the determined distance together with information retrieved from the storage means 320 regarding the layout of the facilities 500 within which the monitoring of the individual takes place; and set an alert based at least on whether the received sensor data indicates an alert state and whether the determined location fulfils a predetermined location condition, indicating whether the individual is located in a certain room, such as e.g. the bedroom 530.
WEARABLE REPETITIVE BEHAVIOR AWARENESS DEVICE AND METHOD
The present disclosure relates generally to an awareness enhancement apparatus and method for undesirable repeated behaviors, including but not limited to obsessive compulsive and related disorders, and most relevant to trichotillomania (hair pulling), onychophagia (nail biting), dermatillomania (skin picking), and thumb sucking, among others. More particularly, the disclosure relates to a sensing and feedback device and associated methods of use which indicate a behavior based on the user's physical gestures and positioning of the hands, these gestures and positions being related to these undesirable behaviors typical of such disorders, and alerting the user so that he or she can reduce the behavior.
VOICE CONTROLLED ASSISTANCE FOR MONITORING ADVERSE EVENTS OF A USER AND/OR COORDINATING EMERGENCY ACTIONS SUCH AS CAREGIVER COMMUNICATION
A user, such as an elderly person, may be assisted by an assistance device in his or her caregiving environment that operates in conjunction with one or more server computers. The assistance device may execute a schedule of assistance actions where each assistance action is associated with a time and is executed at that time to assist the user. An assistance action may present an input request to a user, process a voice input of the user, and analyze the voice input to determine that the voice input corresponds to a negative response event, a positive response event, or a non-response event. Based on the categorization of one or more voice inputs as negative response events, positive response events, or non-response events, it may be determined to notify a caregiver of the user, for example where the user has not responded to a number of assistance actions.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING MOBILITY MANAGEMENT USING HAPTIC GUIDANCE
A method for managing movement includes determining a current location of a subject in a monitoring area, comparing the current location to a risk area location in the monitoring area, determining a likelihood of injury based on a result of the comparison, and generating control information based on the likelihood of injury to the subject. The control information may control activation of a haptic effect in a device worn or carried by the subject. The haptic effect may correspond to at least one stimulus that notifies the subject of the potential risk area.
