Fecal Collection Systems and Methods
In an example, a fecal collection system includes a user interface assembly, a drainage conduit, and a collection reservoir. The user interface assembly includes a user interface and an applicator. The user interface has a proximal side and a distal side. The proximal side is configured to couple to skin of a user. The applicator is coupled to the distal side of the user interface. The applicator is removable from the user interface while the user interface is coupled to the user. The drainage conduit extends between a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is configured to couple to the distal side of the user interface. The drainage conduit defines a lumen configured to guide feces from the proximal end to the distal end. The collection reservoir coupled to the distal end of the drainage conduit.
COMPRESSION BODYSUIT RETRACTOR FOR BOWEL MOVEMENT
The present invention is directed to an apparatus used during a bowel movement while the user is wearing a compression bodysuit such that feces do not soil the compression bodysuit. The apparatus may include a seat that rests against the skin, a shoot/shied to allow for passage of feces into the toilet, and a support that keeps the apparatus in place tofacilitate pulling a compression bodysuit back and away from the anal area. The apparatus is designed to allow feces to fall into the toilet without getting on the compression bodysuit and without contacting the apparatus. In the occurrence of abnormal or watery stools the apparatus functions as a splatter shield to block feces from soiling the compression bodysuit.
Ostomy device, apparatus, and system
Devices for insertion into a stoma formed in a patient's body are provided, comprising a tube having distal and proximal ends and defining a path for movement of waste. To retain the device in the stoma and seal the stoma, the tube includes a retention mechanism located on the distal end and/or a sealing mechanism extending along a length of the tube between the proximal and distal ends. Collection apparatus for collecting waste from a patient's body also are provided, comprising a waste pouch and a connector for connecting the collection apparatus to a device inserted into a stoma. Additionally, waste collection systems for collecting waste from a patient's body are provided, comprising a tube for insertion into a stoma and a waste pouch. Each system may comprise a separate tube and waste pouch or the tube and waste pouch may be formed as an integral, inseparable component.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR COLLECTING BODY FLUIDS
Methods and apparatus for collecting fluids discharged from a urethra. An apparatus can include a housing with a rear and front portion a coupled together. A baseplate, inside the housing, includes an angled circumferential side surface adjacent to an inside surface of the housing, a main aperture, and a valve aperture extending through the baseplate. A discharge tube is coupled to the baseplate. An elastomeric tube extends from outside the housing to a termination point past the baseplate within the housing, the baseplate and the housing configured such that the collection tube is pinched and held in place between the baseplate angled circumferential side surface and an inside surface of the vented housing. One-way valves positioned in each valve aperture communicate air through the baseplate into the collection tube. A urethra tube, configured for collecting discharged urine, is positioned in a proximal end of the collection tube.
Wearable urinary collection apparatus
A wearable urinary collection apparatus for being worn by a user, including an elongate, watertight, flexible receptacle having an entrance opening near one end thereof and an elongate, flexible backflow inhibiting device which is connected to and extends within a portion of the flexible receptacle and also includes an entrance opening to receive the user's penis therein. At least one of the entrance opening of the receptacle and the entrance opening of the backflow inhibiting device is configured to receive the user's penis therein such that urine discharged from the penis flows through the backflow inhibiting device into the receptacle. The receptacle and the backflow inhibiting device are each formed of flexible plastic sheet material and are each configured to collapse flat when not in use, and the backflow inhibiting device has constrictions formed therein for constricting and diverting flow of urine therethrough.
Waste Management Appliance
A waste management appliance includes a tubular body having a proximal end and a distal end, a cowl fastened to the tubular body at a first circumferential location in a vicinity of the proximal end, a balloon provided within the cowl, and an inflation lumen opening to an interior of the balloon and extending toward the distal end of the tubular body. The cowl extends outside of the tubular body to a second circumferential location spaced from the first circumferential location and is fastened to the tubular body at the second circumferential location. The balloon is inflatable to a desired extent within the cowl by injecting a predetermined amount of fluid into the balloon via the inflation lumen; the cowl restrains inflation of the balloon beyond the desired extent in the event of an injection of more than the predetermined amount of fluid into the balloon.
Ostomy pouch with filtering system
An ostomy appliance including an ostomy pouch with a filter and a center pleated panel to protect the filter, facilitate deodorization and deter ballooning.
Bag for collecting urine
The purpose of the invention is to create a urine bag that can be easily folded in order to occupy less space prior to use and that can be easily manipulated by a patient, in particular a paraplegic patient. This is achieved using a urine collection bag (1) formed by two sheets of plastic material that are stacked and welded along the periphery (2) thereof. The collection bag (1) comprises a collection compartment (3), said inlet being in communication with the intake port (4) and delimiting the upper portion of the collection compartment (3). The intake port (4) is provided with a vertical extension (8) closed along their periphery (22) thereof and comprising a urinary catheter (9). The bag (1) of the invention is characterised in that the intake port (4) and the inlet (6) are offset vertically, and in that the vertical height (ho) of the bag (1) corresponds to a multiple of the height (hp) of the extension (8).
Self-closing bag connector
A bag connector system includes a first coupling element, with a self-closing seal and a housing having a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port, and a second coupling element, with a housing having a fluid inlet end and a fluid outlet end. The fluid inlet end is configured to displace the self-closing seal when inserted into the fluid outlet port of the first coupling element. A bag connector system optionally includes a locking mechanism to maintain the first coupling element and second coupling element in a coupled state. Uncoupling of the first and second coupling elements results in minimal fluid contamination on the outer surfaces of the coupling elements. The bag connector systems provided herein are included in medical appliances for waste management.
Ostomy pouching device
An ostomy pouching device for the removal of biological waste from a patient. An embodiment of an ostomy pouching device includes an outer container housing an inner bag for receiving waste from a patient's bowel. The device includes a bowel connector to connect the bowel to the inner bag. The outer container includes an air exit aperture through which air may exit the container as it is displaced as the inner bag expands, and a gas tunnel for removing gas from the inner bag.
