COMMUNICATING INFORMATION ABOUT PARKING SPACE AVAILABILITY
20230162608 · 2023-05-25 ·

A system for communicating information about parking space availability can include a processor and a memory. The memory can store a calculations module and a communications module. The calculations module can include instructions that cause the processor to: (1) obtain a current count of spaces available for parking in an area designated for parking and (2) calculate, based on the current count and information, a revised count of the spaces. The information can indicate that a second vehicle has moved into or out of the area. The communications module can include instructions that cause the processor to: (1) receive, from a first vehicle, the information and (2) cause the revised count to be communicated to a component of a vehicle, in a vicinity of the area, for an action to be performed. The first vehicle can be parked. The information can be received via a sensor of the first vehicle.

Parking assistance device and control method of parking assistance device

A parking assistance device includes a parking direction specification unit specifying a parking direction in a case where a subject vehicle is parked at a parking region, an obstacle detection unit detecting an obstacle, a detection range setting unit setting a detection range for detecting a bearing of the obstacle, a division unit dividing the detection range in a direction associated with the specified parking direction and generating plural divided ranges, a bearing calculation unit calculating a bearing of the detected obstacle, which is a bearing of a side surface of the obstacle which extends in the parking direction, for each of the divided ranges and calculating an average value of the bearings which are respectively calculated for the divided ranges, and a parking position setting unit setting a parking position where the subject vehicle is parked at the parking region based on the calculated average value.

The parking meter cap includes an outer surface, an inner surface defining an interior cavity, and a lower edge portion defining an opening into the interior cavity. The lower edge portion is configured to be coupled to a lower housing component of single space meter such that a meter mechanism may be enclosed within the interior cavity of the upper meter dome. The meter cap includes a vehicle sensor coupled to the inner surface of the upper meter dome. The meter cap includes a solar panel coupled to the inner surface of the upper meter dome and configured to supply power to the vehicle sensor.

Method, apparatus, and computer program product for identifying street parking based on aerial imagery

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for identifying on-street parking from aerial imagery. A method may include: receiving an aerial image of a geographic region; applying an object detection algorithm to the received aerial image to identify vehicle objects within the aerial image; identifying one or more clusters of vehicle objects within the aerial image; generating cluster lines for the one or more clusters of vehicle objects; map matching the cluster lines for the one or more clusters of vehicle objects to a map of the geographic region; and identifying on-street parking for a road segment in response to a cluster line of the cluster lines for the one or more clusters of vehicle objects satisfying predetermined criteria with respect to the road segment.

Automated driving vehicle management system, method, and program

The present disclosure provides an automated driving vehicle management system, a management method, an automated driving vehicle, and a program that are capable of appropriately managing the automated driving vehicle. The automated driving vehicle management system including: a map information storage unit that stores map information; an imaginary line management unit that manages an imaginary line imaginarily generated for a road included in the map information; and a communication unit that transmits imaginary line information about the imaginary line to a plurality of automated driving vehicles traveling along the imaginary line.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACKING EGRESS TIMES FROM A PARKING FACILITY AND PROVIDING ACTION RECOMMENDATIONS
20230141416 · 2023-05-11 ·

A method includes receiving vehicle data for a plurality of vehicles in a parking facility over time, the vehicle data including a time t1 indicating when each of the vehicles leaves its corresponding parking spot in the parking facility, and a time t2 indicating when each of the plurality of vehicles reaches an exit of the parking facility. An egress time is determined for each of the plurality of vehicles based at least in part on the corresponding times t1 and t2. A timestamp is assigned to each of the egress times, resulting in timestamped egress times. A current egress time of the parking facility is estimated based at least in part on the timestamped egress times. An action recommendation is based at least in part on the current egress time of the parking facility and is outputted for subsequent viewing by the driver of the particular vehicle.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A SENSOR DEVICE, AND SENSOR DEVICE
20170371060 · 2017-12-28 ·

A method for operating a sensor device for detecting an object, having a first surroundings sensor and a second surroundings sensor for detecting a surroundings of the sensor device, including detecting a surroundings of the sensor device using the first surroundings sensor to ascertain first surroundings data, the second surroundings sensor being deactivated; ascertaining whether the first surroundings data are sufficient to be able to conclude with a predetermined probability whether an object is located in the surroundings; if the first surroundings data are sufficient, ascertaining whether an object is located in the surroundings, based on the first surroundings data; if the first surroundings data are not sufficient, activating the deactivated second surroundings sensor; detecting the surroundings of the sensor device using the second surroundings sensor to ascertain second surroundings data; ascertaining whether an object is located in the surroundings, based on the second surroundings data.

AUTONOMOUS PARKING CONTROLLER AND METHOD BASED ON AMBIENT CONDITIONS RELATING TO A VEHICLE PARKING LOCATION
20170361835 · 2017-12-21 ·

Devices and methods in an autonomous parking controller for a vehicle are disclosed. When the vehicle is located at a parking location, the method determines whether the parking location includes a parking restriction. When the parking location includes the parking restriction, the example method compares the parking restriction with at least one restriction threshold. When the parking restriction compares unfavorably with the at least one restriction threshold, the example method, while at the parking location, monitors for a change in at least one of a plurality of ambient conditions relative to the vehicle. When the example method detects the change, the vehicle is autonomously relocated to another location to alleviate the active obstruction.
