INFANT SLEEP POSITION DEMONSTRATION DEVICE
20220383778 · 2022-12-01 ·

An interactive infant simulation device used to demonstrate the proper sleep position of an infant. The infant simulation device can include an infant body portion and a transparent upper respiratory passageway at least partially contained within the infant body portion. The infant body portion can include one or two parts, and the two parts can be removeably coupled to one another. The infant simulation device can be moved from a first position to a second position, and a colored fluid contained within the upper respiratory passageway can be viewed moving between passages representing the trachea, esophagus, and pharynx of an infant. In one case (e.g., a stomach-down orientation), the fluid may be present in the tracheal passage, demonstrating the improper sleep position of an infant. In another case (e.g., a back-down orientation), the tracheal passage may be substantially free from fluid, demonstrating the proper sleep position of an infant.

In vitro dissolution test method for fluticasone propionate and other inhaled drugs

An apparatus and method for testing dissolution properties of a drug, especially anti-inflammatory drugs administered by aerosol into the respiratory system. The apparatus shortens the time it takes for a drug to dissolve and thus provides for rapid testing of new drugs for quality control as well as for regulatory purposes. It is suitable for evaluating bioequivalence or to study the pharmacokinetics of drugs administered into the respiratory system. This method shortens dissolution times for testing a drug to about 10 and 20 minutes and thus provides for rapid testing.

SIMULATED TISSUE STRUCTURE COMPOSITION AND USE FOR SURGICAL TRAINING
20230097495 · 2023-03-30 ·

A simulated tissue structure and a method for making the same is provided. The simulated tissue structure is made to have a longitudinal strength that is sufficient to withstand manipulations and movements when used with a simulated surgical training model while still being severable by conventional and electro-surgical tools. The simulated tissue structure has a first and second inner layer that is encompassed by an outer layer. Portions of the first inner layer are connectable with other simulated organs to simulate conditions for training laparoscopic procedures.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a wearable device for simulating wounds and injuries received during a trauma event. Aspects of the present disclosure further relate to a medical training device for Trauma Emergency Casualty Care and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). A wearable device may be worn by a live human (e.g., trauma actor) or simulated body (e.g., full/partial manikin, drag dummy, etc.). The medical trainers disclosed herein may include one or more simulated injuries, which may be operational or merely to provide more realism. The medical trainers disclosed herein may further include features directed toward to internal and/or external trauma injuries.

GYN PATHOLOGY SURGICAL SIMULATION MODELS AND SYSTEMS FOR SURGICAL TRAINING

Embodiments of the present invention provide GYN pathology simulation models for surgical training. These models are energy-compatible models emulating the tissue-based diseases of the female reproductive system to allow the surgical trainees and surgeons to practice advanced OB/GYN surgical skills. One simulated GYN model includes an electrically conductive elongated tube encapsulating a mass of non-conductive material. The elongated tube having a sidewall with an inner surface and outer surface extending between a proximal end and distal end. The sidewall is configured to have a cavity with a specific volume to yield an external protuberance when filled with the mass of non-conductive material. Another simulated GYN model includes a fluid-filled cystic body encapsulated within an electrically conductive bulbous hollow structure. The fluid-filled cystic body is selectively adhered to the bulbous hollow structure in at least one or more regions, thereby creating a plane for a combination of blunt and sharp dissection.
