FLEXIBLE BRAILLE INDICIA SIGNAGE FOR USE ON RAILINGS AND METHOD

Flexible braille indicia signage and methods are provided. Preferably, the flexible braille indicia signage takes the form of braille directional identifiers for use on railings or the like. In one example, the braille indicia signage is made by providing a flexible substrate and printing a first layer of ink on a first side of the flexible substrate in a pattern defining desired braille indicia. Multiple layers of ink are then printed in registration with the pattern atop of the first layer of ink such that the desired braille indicia has a height of at least 0.6 mm (0.79 mm for braille directional identifiers) relative to the first side of the substrate. A sealing layer of ink is then printed atop the substrate and multiple layers of ink. The result is a braille sign with braille indicia that does not separate from the substrate on a condition that a portion of the substrate bearing the braille indicia is flexed in an arc of a 10 mm, i.e. 7/16 inch, radius circle, such as, for example, when the braille indicia sign is a braille directional identifier affixed to a railing having a 20 mm, i.e. inch, or greater diameter.

A multilayered sheet assembly for forming a sign on an object includes a carrier layer including a first side and a second side, a sign layer that is arranged on the first side of the carrier layer via a first adhesive layer, and a strip layer that is arranged on the second side of the carrier layer via a second adhesive layer in an adhesively separable manner. The sign layer carries a third adhesive layer at an exposed side that is across from the carrier layer to allow a sign that is formed by the sign layer to adhere to the object at the exposed side while releasing from the carrier layer.

Multilayered sheet assembly and a method for forming a sign

A multilayered sheet assembly includes a carrier layer on which a sign layer is arranged on a first side via a first adhesive layer. The sheet assembly further includes a strip layer which is arranged via a second adhesive layer in adhesively separable manner on a second side of the carrier layer. A further includes arranging the multilayered sheet assembly on a cutting device, arranging a peripheral cut in the sheet assembly along an outer periphery of a sign, arranging an inner cut in the sheet assembly along a peripheral line of at least one enclosed surface area not forming part of the sign, separating the strip layer with adhesive retention of the at least one enclosed surface area not forming part of the sign, and separating the sign layer from the carrier layer.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL ATTACHMENT

A three-dimensional attachment. The three-dimensional attachment includes at least one character having a height (h), a width (w) and a depth (d). The at least one character further includes a front surface and a rear surface. The depth (d) extends from the front surface to the rear surface. The depth (d) of the at least one character varies such that the rear surface has a curve contouring to an outer surface of a curved object, and the front surface has a planar design. The three-dimensional attachment thereby attaches to a curved object and the design appears to be three-dimensional relative to the curved object.
