A security medallion for a portable object may include a housing and a mechanical interface formed in the housing that may be configured to receive a laptop lock. The security medallion may also include a circuit board positioned within the housing that may be operable to provide electronic monitoring of the security medallion. The security medallion may further include a power source positioned within the housing and coupled to the circuit board, and an attachment member supported on the housing and having an adhesive configured to selectively bond to the portable object. The adhesive may be releasable from the portable object by application of a release means.

Embodiments for a removable zipper charm with marketing receptacle are provided. The attachment includes a medallion, a connector ring, a connecting mechanism, and marketing material. Generally speaking, these components are structured such that the connector ring is attached to the medallion at the edge of the medallion, the marketing material is engraved or attached to the medallion, and the connecting mechanism is fastened to the connector ring and thereby the medallion. An iridescent vehicle badge (and methods for making it) that includes a translucent, polymeric badge having a non-planar shape and comprising an interior and an exterior surface. Further, at least one of the surfaces of the badge comprises a plurality of diffraction gratings that are integral with the badge, each having a thickness from 250 nm to 1000 nm and a varying period from 50 nm to 5 microns. In some cases, the thickness can range from 500 nm to 750 nm. The period, in some cases, can vary within a set of discrete values in one or more portions of the at least one of the surfaces of the badge, e.g., from 150 nm to 400 nm.
