A system and method for controlling amount of light emitting from an illuminating screen including: a frame defining a space, a screen mounted onto a front side of said frame, a back plate mounted onto a back side of the frame, opposite the front side, at least one light source and a concealing element. The at least one light source is positioned within the space defined by the frame and is configured to illuminate the screen. The concealing element is located inside the space defined by the frame and is configured to block light from illuminating the screen. The amount of light emitting through the screen is controlled by a ratio between the area of the concealing element positioned in a section located between the at least one light source and the screen, and the total area of the section.

Display apparatus

A display apparatus includes: a substrate; a strip-like light source placed at ends in a width direction of the substrate; and a light guide plate mounted in front of the substrate. A display medium is disposed in front of the light guide plate. The substrate includes a main body and a pair of edge plates that cover the front surface of both ends in the width direction. Light source mounts formed separately to the substrate and the edge plates have a strip-like light source mounted thereupon and are fixed inside the insertion channels. The light guide plate is mounted with both ends inserted inside the insertion channels so that light from the strip-like light source is incident from end surfaces of the light guide plate.

With the same effect as conventional lighting tools, the light distribution method of the present invention has the advantages of environmental friendliness, firmly fixed lenses which are not easy to fall off, high structural strength enough to be applied to large lamp boxes, low labor cost of mounting, and so on.

Some of the light beams emitted by the at least one light-emitting unit are reflected through the dot regions and penetrate the upper surface of the light guide plate and the at least one transparent region. In this way, from the outside of the housing, the light beams penetrating the at least one transparent region can be observed, and a visual effect that a specific position on the housing emits light is generated.

A self-contained illuminated sign for mounting on a vehicle is disclosed. The sign includes a front panel, a rear panel situated opposite and substantially parallel to the front panel in spaced relation therefrom to define a space therebetween, and a light source comprising a plurality of LEDs. The light source is positioned between the front and rear panels and is configured to emit light that emanates from the front panel. The front panel is thus backlit to display indicia. A system for supporting a self-contained illuminated sign on a vehicle is also disclosed. The system includes the sign and a separate mounting frame mountable on a vehicle. The mounting frame is configured to removably receive the sign and, when the sign is received in the mounting frame, to surround a perimeter of the sign while permitting visibility of the front display area. The solar cell absorbs light energy of both direct and reflected light to generate electricity.
