AEROGEL IMPLANTS FOR CONTRACEPTION
20250134702 · 2025-05-01 ·

Embodiments of the invention include aerogel implants and methods for making aerogel implants, and methods of implantation of aerogel implants. Such implants are configured to swell in vivo following insertion into a body cavity or lumen, such as a vas deferens or fallopian tube, to provide an occlusion. In embodiments, in vivo swelling results in an aerogel implant (e.g., a rehydrated hydrogel implant) that is dynamically responsive to vessel contraction.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DELIVERY AND/OR REMOVAL OF OCCLUSIONS IN THE BODY

Systems, devices, and methods for delivering one or multiple materials into a body space (e.g., to occlude the body space) and/or for removing one or multiple materials from a body space (e.g., to open or reopen the body space) are described. Delivering material into the vas deferens of the male reproductive tract for contraception, removing material from the vas deferens to restore patency of the vas deferens, delivering material into the fallopian tubes of the female reproductive tract for contraception, and removing material from fallopian tubes to restore patency of the fallopian tubes is described. Confirming access to a body space is described. Agitating materials in a body space is described. Creating turbulence in a body space is described.

Fallopian tube retrievable device

A contraceptive device is provided including an occluding component for deployment in a tubal lumen of a reproductive organ. The device includes an expandable frame reversibly expandable from a collapsed state to an expanded state and a barrier supported by the expandable frame. In the expanded state the barrier is disposed between the expandable frame and walls of the lumen to inhibit in-growth of cellular material into and onto the occluding component, and additionally the barrier is urged against walls of the tubal lumen to define at least two tube lumen sealing areas, disposed perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the walls of the tube lumen such that (i) the expandable frame is disposed between the two tubal lumen sealing surface, and (ii) passage of reproductive cells through the expandable frame, and through the tube lumen is blocked, therefore, creating a the complete blockage for liquids from a first part of the tube to a second part of the tube, downstream the first part. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and method for delivery and/or removal of occlusions in the body

Delivery systems for providing occlusive hydrogels in a tube lumen or void space within the body including but not limited to a reproductive tract such as the vas deferens or fallopian tubes for contraception are described. The delivery systems contain mechanisms that confirm proper placement of the system in the bodily lumen prior to the delivery of the occlusive material. The systems also can contain a confirmatory mechanism that demonstrates the blockage or occlusion in the bodily lumen has been achieved following the deposition of the occlusive material. Another aspect of this application is to provide a removal system that delivers dissolving material, agitates, aspirates, and confirms the patency of the bodily lumen following the removal of the occlusive material if so desired by the patient for the return to fertility.
