Marks for privacy display
A switchable privacy display comprises a spatial light modulator with output polariser, a reflective polariser, a polar control liquid crystal retarder and an additional polariser. The electrodes of the polar control liquid crystal retarder are patterned with a mark. In wide angle and narrow angle operational modes, the electrodes of the liquid crystal retarder are driven such that the mark is not visible. In a mark display state, the electrodes are driven to provide visibility of the mark in reflected light to an off-axis observer.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a first panel; a second panel disposed opposing one surface of the first panel; a light source configured to emit light to the other surface of the first panel; and an acquirer configured to acquire user information including information indicating at least one of a position of an eye and a position of a head of a user facing the second panel. The first panel includes light control pixels. The second panel includes pixels. Blurring processing is applied by which the light control pixel positioned around a pixel controlled to transmit light in accordance with an input image signal is caused to transmit light. A blurring area including the light control pixel to which the blurring processing is applied on the first panel corresponds to the position of the eye of the user or the position of the head of the user.

A display screen assembly, an electronic device, and an image acquisition method are provided. The display screen assembly includes: a display screen including a first region and a second region; a coupling grating, used to couple and transmit an external light being incident toward the first region to the second region; and an electroluminescent device, used to allow the external light to be incident toward the first region or block the external light from being incident toward the first region.

A color display device comprises an array of a plurality of sub-pixels including a red sub-pixel, a blue sub-pixel, a first green sub-pixel and a second green sub-pixel. The first green sub-pixel and the second green sub-pixel are smaller than that of the red sub-pixel or the blue sub-pixel. The two adjacent first green sub-pixels are arranged in a first direction, the two adjacent second green sub-pixels are arranged in the first direction. The blue sub-pixel is directly adjacent to the red sub-pixel in a second direction; the blue sub-pixel is directly adjacent to the two first green sub-pixels and the two second green sub-pixels.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are taught that convey information in a mirror to a user. A glass layer has a front side and a back side. The glass layer further includes a first region. The first region has a first optical property. A second region has a second optical property. The first optical property is different than the second optical property. A first boundary exists where the first region meets the second region and the first boundary is shaped to convey information when the second region is illuminated from the back side and the glass layer is viewed from the front side by the user. When the second region is not illuminated from the back side the first region and the second region provide substantially the same reflection when the glass layer is viewed from the front side by the user, and the first boundary does not convey information.
VEHICULAR TRAILER HITCHING ASSIST SYSTEM
A vehicular trailer hitching assist system includes a rear backup camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle and a control disposed in the vehicle. A display device includes a video display screen operable to display video images for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. Responsive to the driver initiating a hitching maneuver event by engaging reverse gear of the vehicle, rear backup video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed at the video display screen. An overlay overlays the displayed rear backup video images and aids in guiding connection of a trailer hitch of the equipped vehicle to a trailer tongue of a trailer. Continued display of rear backup video images that are overlaid by the overlay is ceased upon elapse of a threshold period of time or upon exceeding a threshold speed or upon exceeding a threshold distance traveled.

A display device is provided. The display device includes a display unit having pixels arranged in a two-dimensional matrix, each pixel including additive mixture subpixels and a luminance adjustment subpixel, and a signal control unit controlling a luminance at a maximum gray scale in the luminance adjustment subpixel depending on an external light illuminance.

The controller is configured to control power supply to the register, power supply to the frame memory, and power supply to the image processing portion. The register includes a scan chain register. A transistor with which the scan chain register is configured includes an oxide semiconductor in a channel formation region.

The display device includes a light-receiving element, a display element, a first transistor, and a second transistor. One of a source and a drain of the first transistor is electrically connected to one electrode of the light-receiving element. The one of the source and the drain of the first transistor is electrically connected to one of a source and a drain of the second transistor. The display device has a function of, by turning on the second transistor, changing the gray level of the display element in accordance with the amount of light detected by the light-receiving element.
