Vacuum-based thermal management system
A thermal management system and method are presented for cooling an entity. The system comprises: a closed loop fluid flow line for flow of a coolant while being transferred in between its liquid and gas phases; at least one cooling zone located within the flow line and comprising at least one cooling interface; a vacuum generator unit operable for creating and maintaining vacuum condition at the cooling zone to thereby reduce evaporation temperature of the coolant located in the cooling zone; and a condensation zone spaced apart from the cooling interface downstream thereof with respect to a direction of the coolant flow from the cooling zone along the closed loop path wherein the coolant is condensed to liquid phase.
MYBROWS APPARATUS
A brow saving device, including a first end portion, a second end portion; a middle section adjacent to the first end portion and the second end portion; a hook at an end of the first end portion; a loop at an end of the first end portion configured to connect the loop to the hook; and a pocket to an inside portion of the middle section, the pocket configured to hold two or more ice packets.
DERMAL HEATSINK EXHIBITING HYDROPHILIC AND CONTAMINANT RESISTANT PROPERTIES AND METHOD FOR FABRICATING A DERMAL HEATSINK
One variation of a method for fabricating a dermal heatsink includes: fabricating a substrate defining an interior surface, an exterior surface opposite the interior surface, and an open network of pores extending between the interior surface and the exterior surface; activating surfaces of the substrate and walls of the open network of pores; applying a coating over the substrate to form a heatsink, the coating comprising a porous, hydrophilic material and defining a void network; removing an excess of the coating from the substrate to clear blockages within the open network of pores by the coating; hydrating the heatsink during a curing period; heating the heatsink during the curing period to increase porosity of the coating applied over surfaces of the substrate; and rinsing the heatsink with an acid to decarbonate the coating along walls of the open network of pores in the substrate.
Noninvasive, regional brain thermal stimuli for the treatment of migraine
Methods, systems and devices for treating headaches, including migraines. In some variations these methods may include enhancing sleep, including enhancing the quality of sleep, reducing sleep onset time, increasing total sleep time, treating insomnia, and/or treating other neurological disorders by non-invasive temperature regulation of the frontal cortex prior to and/or during sleep.
NONINVASIVE, REGIONAL BRAIN THERMAL STIMULATION FOR INDUCING RELAXATION
Methods, systems and devices for reducing anxiety, including increasing relaxation and/or calm. In some variations these methods may include reducing anxiety, increase relaxation and/or calm by non-invasive temperature regulation of the frontal cortex prior to and/or during sleep. The subject may have an anxiety disorder, or may not have a diagnosed anxiety disorder.
Migraine Tension Headache Wrap
A migraine tension headache headband including a sleeve that is connected at both ends. The sleeve creates a closed annular body. The body is a headband. The sleeve has an elastic first material and a cushioned second material. The sleeve has at least one opening at a top portion of the sleeve. The opening has a hook and loop fastener located therein such that the opening can be secured in a closed position. The opening is sized to fit an ice pack or heat pack therein. The headband will be able to apply pressure to a majority of the wearers head and apply pressure thereby releasing the tension during a migraine.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR WEARABLES
A wearable device may include a first side, a second side, at least one electrode, and at least one thermocouple. The first side may be the side in contact with a subject, and the at least one electrode and the at least one thermocouple may be arranged on the first side.
BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTING HEADWEAR
A blood flow restricting apparatus is provided. The blood flow restricting apparatus can include a frame element configured to be securable to a user's head. At least one cooling pad can be operatively arranged with the adjustable frame element and configured to be arranged over a defined anatomic location including at least one of a pair of supratrochlear arteries, a pair of supraorbital arteries, a pair of temporal arteries, and a pair of occipital arteries of the user's head when the frame element is secured to the user's head. A pressurizing mechanism can be operatively arranged with the at least one cooling pad and capable of pressing the at least one cooling pad against the defined anatomic location to restrict blood flow to each of the targeted arteries while simultaneously cooling the defined anatomic location to induce hypothermic induced vasoconstriction.

Systems and Methods for Providing a Cooling Compression Apparatus for Post-Surgery Recovery
The present invention includes a garment with an attached inflatable bladder that is designed to be adjacent to the patient's breasts during use for post-surgery recovery. The inflatable bladder has an inlet tube and an outlet tube that connects to a pumping apparatus to supply cold fluid to the inflatable bladder for cooling therapy. The inflatable bladder may include a tortuous water passageway through a first breast section, a second breast section, and a sternum section such that the cool water continues to be recycled through the inflatable bladder without sitting and becoming warm. The garment includes a set of adjustable shoulder straps and a set of adjustable chest straps, which enable the patient to adjust the tightness of the breast cooling and compression apparatus without raising her arms above her head. The present invention also includes a face mask with an inflatable bladder that has an inlet and outlet tube that connects to a pumping apparatus to supply cooling therapy. The inflatable bladder of the face mask includes a tortuous water passageway to recycle the cold water.
