Systems and methods for signal communication over an optical link are described. One aspect includes receiving a source CONFIG1 signal from a DP master device and a sink CONFIG1 signal from a sink terminal. The source and sink CONFIG1 signals are analyzed. It is determined whether a signal transmission mode is a DP protocol. For a DP protocol, a pair of source AUX signals is received from the DP master device. A pair of sink AUX signals is received from the sink terminal. Communication resource contention between the source and sink AUX signals is identified. A communication direction of the communication resources is transitioned to give the source AUX signals precedence over the sink AUX signals. The source AUX signals are transferred to the sink terminal via the communication resources. The direction of the communication resources is again transitioned. The sink AUX signals are transferred to the DP master device.

An electronic device coupled to a display includes a graphics card and a processor. The graphics card reads the extended display identification data from the display. The processor determines, according to the extended display identification data, that the display is able to display a default resolution at a first refresh rate at most, and determines, according to the extended display identification data, whether the display device is able to display the default resolution at a second refresh rate that exceeds the first refresh rate. When it is determined that the display is able to display the default resolution at the second refresh rate, the processor adds the second refresh rate into the extended display identification data.

SYSTEM AND METHOD TO INCREASE DISPLAY AREA UTILIZING A PLURALITY OF DISCRETE DISPLAYS

A method includes receiving, at a master agent, announcements from candidate consumer agents indicating the presence of the candidate consumer agents. Each announcement includes display parameters for a display of the corresponding candidate consumer agent. The method further includes receiving at the master agent content parameters from a producer agent, the content parameters defining characteristics of content to be provided by the consumer agent. A mosaic screen is configured based on the received announcements and the content parameters. This configuring of the mosaic screen includes selecting ones of the consumer agents for which an announcement was received and generating content distribution parameters based on the content parameters and the display parameters of the selected ones of the consumer agents. The generated content distribution parameters are provided to the consumer agent.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SCALING OF DISPLAY, AND CIRCUIT AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE SUPPORTING THE SAME

Disclosed is a display driver circuit including a resolution analyzer that detects a size of a portion of screen input data received from a processor, and acquires a setting related to scaling of the screen input data based on the detected size, and an image processor that generates screen output data corresponding to a resolution of the display panel based on the acquired setting, and supplies the generated screen output data to a display panel. The first multiplexer circuit is coupled to at least one signal pin of the connector, the processor and the controller. The second multiplexer circuit is coupled to the EDID ROM, the first multiplexer circuit, the processor and the controller. Under an update state, the controller is electrically connected to the EDID ROM through the second multiplexer circuit, and updates EDID in the EDID ROM with update data.

Embodiments relate to half-duplex bidirectional transmission of data compliant with a first standard (e.g., Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard) over a physical channel of a multimedia link for transmitting audio/video (“A/V”) data compliant with a second standard (e.g., Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) standard) between a source device and a sink device using time division multiplexing (TDM). The source device sends units of data including A/V data and forward data compliant with the first standard at first times whereas the sink device sends units of data including backward data compliant with the first standard at second times between transmissions from the source device. The first times do not overlap with the second times. Synchronization signals may be added to the first and second units of data to align character symbols embedded in the first and second units of data.

A method may include, in an information handling system having a backplane comprising a plurality of connectors, each connector configured to receive an input/output device, and a motherboard communicatively coupled to the backplane via a cable having a presence detection wire configured to transmit presence detection information associated with the plurality of connectors and further having a plurality of data transmission wires: during a discrete mode, monitoring for an indicator from the backplane via the presence detection wire to determine if the backplane is configured for communication of serial presence detection information regarding the plurality of connectors and enter a serial mode in response to receiving the indicator; during the serial mode, receiving via the presence detection wire serialized frames including serialized presence detection information regarding input/output devices received in the plurality of connectors; and deserializing the serialized presence detection information and communicating deserialized presence detection information to a host controller configured to communicate with input/output devices received in the plurality of connectors via the plurality of data transmission wires.
