Intra-Oral Orthodontic Cooling Pack
An intra-oral orthodontic cooling pack device for providing a pain relief, numbing, and cooling effect to the gums and teeth. The intra-oral orthodontic cooling pack includes a plurality of chambers interconnected pivotally wherein the chambers each define an interior volume and can conform to a curved surface, such as an upper or lower gum line. A first attachment mechanism extends from a first end of the plurality of chambers and a second attachment mechanism extending from a second end of the plurality of chambers, wherein the first and second attachment mechanism removably secure the intra-oral orthodontic cooling pack to a support, such as a bracket found on orthodontic braces.
Tongue stimulation for communication of information to a user
Example devices and methods of tongue stimulation for communication of information to a user are disclosed herein. In an example, a tongue stimulation device may include a body configured to be placed entirely within a mouth of the user and atop the tongue of the user. An array of electro-tactile elements may be distributed on the body, wherein each of the electro-tactile elements is configured to stimulate an area of the tongue adjacent the electro-tactile element. A wireless receiver coupled to the body may be configured to receive stimulation information wirelessly from outside the mouth of the user. At least one processing unit coupled to the body may be configured to transform the received stimulation information into a stimulation signal for each of the electro-tactile elements, and to provide the stimulation signals to the electro-tactile elements.
MOUTH PIECE FOR COOLING OF ORAL TISSUE OF A PATIENT DURING CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT
The invention is directed to a mouth piece for cooling of oral tissue of a patient during chemotherapy treatment. The mouth piece includes a cooling medium contained within the top element and the bottom element and able to retain a cooling environment within the mouth sufficient to reduce capillary blood flow to the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, an external chamber extends from the front of the mouth piece to house a cooling medium. A bladder is positioned inside the external chamber for storing a solution having a freezing temperature above the freezing point temperature of the cooling medium to assist in cooling the cooling medium.
HICCUP REMEDY
A non-pharmaceutical hiccup remedy device that makes use of known treatments for hiccups but in a novel way is described. The device is a drinking cup with an extension that applies a cold finger extension to the cheek of the hiccup sufferer user simultaneous to drinking from the cup. The device has been found by the inventor to provide rapid alleviation of hiccups without the discomfort of prior solutions and without the side effects of pharmaceutical treatments for hiccups. The device can be sized and/or, in some embodiments, adjusted for the particular user, from child to adult.
Energy-delivering orthodontic aligner systems
Aligner systems and methods including a sequence of aligners having energy-delivering elements. For example, first and second aligners of the sequence of aligners may include first and second polymer shells that have shapes for applying respective first and second local forces to first and second regions of a dental arch to move one or more first teeth and one or more second teeth, respectively. The first and second aligners may also include corresponding first and second heating elements that are arranged to heat first and second target regions of the dental arch associated with moving the one or more first teeth and one or more second teeth, respectively. Heat energy from the first and second heating elements may improve an outcome of respective first and second stages of a treatment plan.
METHODS OF ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT USING LOCALIZED ENERGY
Methods of orthodontic treatment using localized energy. The methods may include determining that one or more of a patient's teeth are off track from a treatment plan based on one or more discrepancies between a current virtual model and a target virtual model. The current virtual model may be based on image(s) taken of the patient's teeth during a stage of orthodontic treatment. The methods may also include modifying the treatment plan by implementing local energy radiation to a region of the patient's dental arch. The local energy radiation may be configured to accelerate repositioning of the one or more of the patient's teeth and to put the one or more of the patient's teeth on track according to the treatment plan.
Oral device and method for the use thereof
An oral device includes an intraoral bolus simulator having an exterior surface and an interior volume fillable with a fluid. An extraoral user interface extends from the bolus simulator, and can be used to locate or position the intraoral bolus simulator. In various embodiments, the fluid may be a gas or a liquid, or combinations thereof. In other embodiments, an oral device includes an extraoral handle, a shield connected to the handle, a tether extending from the shield, and a bolus simulator connected to the tether.
Closed system mouthpiece with light and heat generation to activate a formulation to increase its volume
A formulation starts as a gel and transforms into a foam under influence of light and heat to expand out into the oral cavity of a user for advantageous health benefits. A closed system mouthpiece includes light and heat generation to activate the formulation to increase its volume. Application of heat above a threshold temperature causes the gel to transform into foam and expand out of the mouthpiece and into the oral cavity. With the foam so dispersed within the oral cavity, activation of a light source embedded within the mouthpiece enhances the bacteria killing properties of the now foam material. The foam spreads onto the tongue of the user as well and acts to kill any damaging bacteria found there. As a result, the pH balance of the mouth is restored to a neutral level in the range of 6.75 to 7.25 or maintained at that pH level.
CLOSED SYSTEM MOUTHPIECE WITH LIGHT AND HEAT GENERATION TO ACTIVATE A FORMULATION TO INCREASE ITS VOLUME
A method employs a closed system mouthpiece using light and heat generation to activate a gel formulation to increase its volume. The gel formulation is coated into the mouthpiece, which is inserted into the user's mouth. Application of heat above a threshold temperature causes the gel to transform into foam and expand out of the mouthpiece and into the oral cavity. The mouthpiece creates a hermetic seal such that the foam expands out throughout the oral cavity into nooks and crannies that are normally difficult to access. Activation of a light source embedded within the mouthpiece enhances the bacteria killing properties of the foam material. The pH balance of the mouth is restored by the inventive method and apparatus to a neutral level in the range of 6.75 to 7.25.
