APPARATUS, METHOD, AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM FOR GENERATING MUSICAL PIECES
An apparatus, method, and computer-readable storage medium that generate a harmonized musical piece. The method includes receiving a chord selection including a musical key and a scale selection, generating, within a digital audio work session, a chord progression sequence based on the received chord selection, in response to a detected chord selection change, modifying the chord progression sequence to include a chord progression corresponding to the chord selection change, setting the chord progression sequence as a master sequence, in response to detecting a second progression sequence within the digital audio work session, transmitting an identifier to the second progression sequence setting it as a slave sequence, and establishing a synchronized communication link between the master and the slave sequences such that changes made in the master sequence are automatically effectuated in the slave sequence, and combining the master sequence and the slave sequence to form a composed musical piece.
PERFORMANCE ASSISTANCE APPARATUS AND METHOD
To assist a human player in performing a foot operator group (pedal keyboard) including a plurality of foot operators operable with a human player's foot, a foot operator image indicative of the foot operator group is displayed on a display screen. Model performance data each designating a pitch to be performed are sequentially acquired, and it is determined whether the pitch designated by the acquired model performance data should be performed by use of the foot operator group. Upon determination that the designated pitch should be performed by use of the foot operator group, a particular foot operator corresponding to the designated pitch is visually designated on the displayed foot operator image (for example by adding a marker image to the particular foot operator). Thus, the human player can easily operate the foot operators while visually confirming, on the foot operator image, each foot operator to be operated.
PERFORMANCE ASSISTANCE APPARATUS AND METHOD
To assist a human player in performing a plurality of foot operators (pedal keys) operable with a human player's foot, a foot operator image indicative of the foot operator group is displayed on a display screen. Chord information of a chord to be performed is acquired, and a pitch of a bass note corresponding to the chord indicated by the acquired chord information is identified. A particular foot operator corresponding to the identified pitch of the bass note is visually designated on the foot operator image displayed on the display screen. An object indicative of a chord name is displayed on the same display screen. Objects indicative of one or more chord names corresponding to a chord progression over a plurality of measures is displayed. A display object highlighting one object indicative of a particular chord name is added in accordance with a progression of a performance.

Musical instrument having diminished chords interlaced with other chords
A musical instrument with two or more classes of pitches where at least one class is a diminished chord extended over an arbitrary number of octaves, and another class is another chord extended over the same span of octaves. The pitches of the second class of pitches are interlaced with the pitches of the diminished chord of the first class of pitches. Additional classes are chords similarly interlaced with other classes, with one class of any interlaced pair of classes being a diminished chord.
MIDI mapping system and process for multiple chord and arpeggio triggering
Systems and processes that use MIDI mapping technology for multiple chord and arpeggio triggering are disclosed, including a multiple chord and arpeggio triggering MIDI mapping system and process that assigns, selects, and records chord and multi-arpeggio functions into a digital audio workstation (DAW) host program or an internalized sequencer and a two-phase multiple chord and time-delayed arpeggio triggering MIDI mapping process for recording a chord progression and enabling multi-arpeggio functions of the chords in the chord progression to be worked on at any time-delayed instance after recording the chord progression. The system divides output from a MIDI controller into chord generators and arpeggiators to allow users to define full chords with a single key selection, while also making immediate or time-delayed single key selections for different arpeggios.
User interface for displaying written music during performance
Indicating what should be played in a piece of music with a music document, including: displaying a part of the music document when a user plays the piece; receiving a real-time audio signal of the playing; automatically determining a playing position within the piece of music based on the real-time audio signal; automatically scrolling the music document on a display depending on the playing position; estimating at least the following from the real-time audio signal: activity; tonality; and tempo used in automatically determining the playing position determined from playing speed of the user. The estimating of the activity includes detecting whether the user is producing any sounding notes. The estimating of the tonality is based on an array of chord models that represent different chords that appear in the music document and allow calculating the probability that the corresponding chord is being played in various real-time audio signal segments.

MUSICAL CHORD IDENTIFICATION, SELECTION AND PLAYING METHOD AND MEANS FOR PHYSICAL AND VIRTUAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
A method, apparatus, and User Interface, and product for assisting users learning to play the Chords of any selected Song quickly and easily and provide a Means to quickly and easily generate the individual Note sounds for the Chords of the selected Song employing a broad range of Virtual and Physical Instrument.
Storage medium and tone generation state displaying apparatus
When a processor accepts an input of plural notes to be assigned for tone generation, according to a predetermined note determining rule called assignment type, the processor selects one or more notes to be sounded in each of plural parts from the accepted notes. The processor controls a display unit to display, for each of the plural parts, the accepted plural notes to be assigned for tone generation. At this time, non-selected one or more notes in respective parts are displayed in one style, and the selected one or more notes in the respective parts are displayed in another style different from the one style. Alternatively, the plural notes to be assigned for tone generation are displayed in one style, and, for each of the plural parts, the selected one or more notes are displayed in another style different from the one style.
