A system is provided for editing an audio file. The system displays, on an electronic device, a piano roll. The system receives a user input to cut a segment of the piano roll. The segment of the piano roll includes a respective tone that extends across both sides of the segment of the piano roll, such that the respective tone includes: a first portion of the respective tone that precedes the segment of the piano roll; and a second portion of the respective tone that follows the segment of the piano roll. In response to the user input to cut the segment of the piano roll, the system cuts the segment from the piano roll and, without user intervention, concatenate the first portion of the respective tone with the second portion of the respective tone.

Techniques are disclosed relating to automatically generate new music content. In some embodiments, a computing system receivers user input specifying a user-defined music control element. The computing system may train a machine learning model to change both composition and performance parameters based on user adjustments to the user-defined music control element. In embodiments in which composition and performance subsystems are on different devices, one device may transmit configuration information to another device, where the configuration information specifies how to adjust parameters based on user input to the user-defined music control element. Disclosed techniques may facilitate centralized learning for human-like music production while allowing individualized customization for individual users. Further, disclosed techniques may allow artists to define their own abstract music controls and make those controls available to end-users.

The playing method includes: selecting a music file which to be set as a ringtone, and popping up a playing preview interface corresponding to the music film and, meanwhile, playing the music file; sliding a cursor of the playing preview interface to select a start position and a playing end position on a playing progress bar corresponding to the music file so as to acquire and save playing information of the ringtone, wherein the playing information comprises a playing start time point and a playing end time point of the ringtone; and in response to occurrence of a ringing event, reading the saved playing information of the ringtone and playing a music clip between the playing start time point and the playing end time point.

A media composition application, such as a musical scorewriter or a digital audio workstation, provides in situ suggestions for continuation or completion of a media composition. The suggestions are based on some or all of the portion of the composition already composed or are based on a corpus of compositions, such as those by a particular composer or those of a specific genre. The length of the suggestions is specified by the user. The suggestions are provided within a graphical user interface of the application and displayed as a possible direct continuation of the composition within a musical stave. If the user rejects the suggestion, additional suggestions are automatically displayed in situ. Reductive, most-probable suggestions may be offered as well as exploratory suggestions that facilitate a creative compositional interaction between user and application. Data filters enable selected aspects of a data source to be used for suggestion generation.

A system and method for interfacing and controlling multiple musical instrument effects modules on a common platform. The system includes: a system processor; a backplane coupled with the system processor; a plurality of musical instrument effects modules removably inserted into the backplane, each of the plurality of musical instrument effects modules including an audio input signal interface and an audio output signal interface, at least one of the musical instrument effects modules including a programmable potentiometer and/or programmable switch to modify an audio output signal; and a user interface configured to enable a user to apply a desired setting on the programmable potentiometer of the musical instrument effects modules via the system processor and the backplane.

Systems and methods for selecting an audio track by performing a gesture on a track-list image are provided. The system includes a processor that performs a method including displaying the audio-track list, detecting a contact with the touchscreen display at a location corresponding to the audio track, detecting a continuous movement of the contact in a direction, detecting a length of the continuous movement, and selecting the audio track if the continuous movement has a length longer than a threshold length. The method includes shifting text associated with the audio track based on the length and direction of the continuous movement. The method includes determining that the selection is a command to queue the audio track for playback or add it to a preparation track list. This determination may be based on the direction of the continuous movement.

The invention is a process for the creation of an audio effect in the context of an audio editing software. The effect is created by applying a series or sequence of reversal instances across a sample or waveform in time.

Systems and methods for providing audio-file loop-playback functionality are provided. The system includes a processor that performs a method including setting a playback loop start-point based on a first selection of a button; setting a loop end-point, associating a loop with an audio file, and entering into the loop based on a second selection of the button; and exiting the loop based on a third selection of the button. Associating the loop with the audio file includes adding metadata to the audio file. The metadata associates the loop with a button. The method includes reentering the loop based on a fourth selection of the button and exiting the loop based on a fifth selection of the button.
