An apparatus for use with a clock body, a clock movement having an hour hand and a sound chip. The apparatus includes a system which is operatively coupled to the clock body, is in receipt of a sound chip, and is adapted to be triggered periodically by a clock movement to produce a sound.

EXTENDED REALITY CONTROLLER AND VISUALIZER
20190005733 · 2019-01-03 ·

A method comprises: capturing images of a movable object in a scene and tracking movement of the object in the scene based on the images, to produce movement parameters that define the movement; generating for display an extended reality (XR) visualization of the physical object in the scene and changing the XR visualization responsive to changing ones of the movement parameters, such that the XR visualization visually reflects the tracked movement; displaying the XR visualization; and converting the movement parameters to control messages configured to control one or more of sound and light, and transmitting the control messages.

Electronic musical performance controller based on vector length and orientation
10152958 · 2018-12-11 ·

An electronic musical performance controller comprising a microprocessor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, narrow beam guide light, and one or more finger monitoring sensors. The proximity sensor is mounted on the front of the controller and represents the origin of a Cartesian coordinate system. Preprogrammed events are mapped into the surrounding space at fixed distances and pitch and yaw angles from the proximity sensor. The guide light beam illuminates the proximity sensor's field of view. The controller is held in one hand and the guide light beam is aimed at the other hand. When the player's finger triggers a finger monitoring sensor, the length of the guide light beam and the pitch and yaw of the proximity sensor are measured. This information is used to determine which mapped event the player is selecting. The preprogrammed event is then output via a MIDI bus or built in sound module and speaker.

Music-colour synaesthesia visualization method
10147205 · 2018-12-04 · ·

A visualization method for music-color synesthesia, belonging to the fields of cognitive psychology, color science and computer graphics, and relating to the visualization of the music synesthesia correlation of colors and the generation of a musical color combination scheme. In the method, a musical scale system is presented in the form of a color scale system, and the musical elements are presented through the color correlation to realize the synesthetic conversion between colors and musical elements, and on this basis, a color graphical conversion of the musical structure is performed. The implementations include: a conversion from colors to musical scales, a conversion from colors to chords, a conversion from colors to rhythm and a conversion from colors to texture etc.

SMART DETECTING AND FEEDBACK SYSTEM FOR SMART PIANO

A smart musical instrument system may include a musical instrument, a first sensor, a second sensor, a processor device, and a reminder device. The first sensor may be configured to obtain first performance data reflecting operations of the musical instrument. The may be second sensor configured to receive second performance data associated with hand posture of a user of the smart instrument system. The processor device may be in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor, and may be configured to generate feedback based on at least one of the first performance data or the second performance data. The reminder device may be configured to deliver the feedback to the user.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CREATING DIGITAL NOTE INFORMATION FOR A METAL-STRINGED MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
20180277085 · 2018-09-27 ·

Systems and methods for a digital instrument are described, for example to simulate or be used in conjunction with a stringed instrument. A sensor system detects the deflection of one or more strings of the digital instrument, produces a measurement of the detected deflection, correlates the measurement to a musical note, and produces at least a portion of digital output based upon the musical note.

A REED FOR A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
20240321240 · 2024-09-26 ·

A reed (10) for a reed musical instrument has (with reference to FIG. 2) a reed body (129) having a reed tip (114) adapted for engagement by a mouth of a player and a ligature engagement section adapted for engagement by a ligature of the reed musical instrument. A cantilever arm (117) is formed integrally with or affixed to the reed body (129) and extends from the reed body (129). A reflector (20) is supported by the cantilever arm (117) spaced apart from the reed body (129). Motion of the reed tip (114) is transmitted via the cantilever arm (117) to the reflector (20). The cantilever arm (117) is shaped and configured such that the transmitted motion is amplified so that any movement of the reed tip (114) results in a greater movement of the reflector (20). The reed (10) in use is mounted on a mouthpiece (11) and has a distal end (119) which is illuminated by an LED (26), whereby the reflector (20) reflects light back to a light sensor (27), which measures the intensity of the light incident on the sensor (27).

Optoelectronic pickup for musical instruments
10083681 · 2018-09-25 · ·

An optoelectronic pickup for a musical instrument includes at least one light source which directs light to impinge a sound generating element of the musical instrument in at least one photoreceiver located to detect the reflected light, so as to generate an electrical signal that is responsive to sound generating element movement.

Fire effect sensor activated trashcan
10065797 · 2018-09-04 ·

The present invention provides a trashcan or wastebasket that has lights and sounds simulating a fire that are activated when trash is thrown inside or on the verge of being thrown inside. One particular activation method consists of sensors housed at the top of the trashcan that detect when trash is thrown in. Once the trash is detected, the walls of the trashcan light up and flicker with an orange color like a fire and crackling fire sounds play. The lights and sounds play for a short interval and then stop until trash is detected again.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING CONTACTLESS SENSING OF PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS
20180190254 · 2018-07-05 ·

Trigger devices, systems, and methods for sensing a strike on a vibratory membrane. A trigger device includes an optical sensor positioned a distance from the vibratory membrane and a processing device. The optical sensor includes an emitter that emits modulated light towards the vibratory membrane and a receiver that receives the modulated light that has reflected off the vibratory membrane and generates an electrical signal corresponding to the received modulated light. The electrical signal includes a peak corresponding to a detected strike on the vibratory membrane. The processing device isolates the peak from the electrical signal and generates one or more of a signal and data corresponding to the electrical signal.
