Systems and methods for providing contactless sensing of percussion instruments
Trigger devices, systems, and methods for sensing a strike on a vibratory membrane. A trigger device includes an optical sensor positioned a distance from the vibratory membrane and a processing device. The optical sensor includes an emitter that emits modulated light towards the vibratory membrane and a receiver that receives the modulated light that has reflected off the vibratory membrane and generates an electrical signal corresponding to the received modulated light. The electrical signal includes a peak corresponding to a detected strike on the vibratory membrane. The processing device isolates the peak from the electrical signal and generates one or more of a signal and data corresponding to the electrical signal.
Signal output device
A signal output device comprising a housing, a fastener that attaches the housing to an object that includes a portion to be struck, an arm section attached to the housing, an extension section extending from the arm section and configured to contact the portion to be struck, a first sensor that detects vibration transmitted to the arm section and outputs a vibration signal representing the vibration, a second sensor provided on the housing and that detects vibration transmitted to the housing, and an output terminal that outputs the vibration detected by at least one of the first sensor or the second sensor.
Beat recording pen
A beat recording pen for the recording and editing music and while serving as writing instrument. The device includes a retractable writing instrument disposed in an elongated shaft designed to house a power supply designed to provide electrical power to a transceiver that can transmit and receive digital signals to and from a connected mobile device or computer. The beat recording pen further includes an impact sensor that can detect an audio input signal of an impact event and convert the audio input signal into a digital signal. A micro-controller is disposed within the pen and can record the converted audio input signals detected by the impact sensor and interface with a software application installed on a connected mobile device or computer.
ELECTRONIC MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
An electronic musical instrument that is easy to use is provided. The electronic musical instrument includes a packing box (2) formed into a box shape capable of accommodating a converter (4) and an output device (5). The packing box (2) has an opening portion (21a) formed in a side surface, and thus it is possible to use the packing box (2) as a percussion instrument simulating a Cajon taking the opening portion (21) a as a sound hole. That is, an electronic musical instrument (1) is used employing the packing box (2) that simulates a Cajon, and thus labor for preparing a musical instrument is saved. Thus, the electronic musical instrument (1) is easy to use.
Drumhead with printed layer for initiating ferrous response and method of making
A drumhead includes a membrane with ferrous responsive material printed onto a surface or otherwise incorporated into it. The ferrous responsive material is detectable by an electromagnetic sensor such that striking the membrane causes vibration that is detected by the sensor, which may initiate an acoustic sound via a sound module. The drumhead may thus be used in an electronic drumming system without requiring fixation of a foreign object to a surface of the membrane.
Multimedia display apparatus and method of use thereof
The present disclosure relates, in one embodiment to a multimedia display apparatus. The multimedia display apparatus may comprise a housing which may be connected to a chassis. The chassis may be configured to attach to the underside of a music drum via a biasing element, thereby positioning the housing so as to project a multimedia image onto the head of the music drum. A multimedia projector may be disposed inside the housing and configured to project a multimedia image through the open bottom or transparent surface of the music drum and displayed on the top surface of the white or translucent drumhead.
Drum head
A drum head includes: a first film including a striking surface; a second film disposed opposed to a back surface of the first film which is back from the striking surface; and a sensor disposed between the first film and the second film and configured to output a signal related to vibration. The sensor includes: a first contact surface configured to contact the back surface of the first film without being secured to the back surface; and a second contact surface configured to contact a front surface of the second film without being secured to the front surface. A sensor tail of the sensor is secured to at least one of the first film and the second film located outside the shell when the first film and the second film are stretched over an open end of a shell.
System and method for detecting moment of impact and/or strength of a swing based on accelerometer data
An example system and method is provided for detecting a moment of impact and/or strength of a swing based on moving a hand-held device including an accelerometer arrangement. A moment and a magnitude of simulated striking of the object are determined based on one or more accelerometer arrangement outputs resulting from the moving of the hand-held device. Using one or more of aural, visual and tactile outputs, the striking of the object is simulated in accordance with the determined moment of simulated striking and the determined magnitude of the simulated striking.
Percussion instrument playing device
A percussion-instrument playing apparatus for playing a percussion instrument having a striking surface. The apparatus includes: a main body to be mounted on the percussion instrument 100 to face the striking surface of the percussion instrument with a predetermined space from the striking surface; an arm supporter attached to the main body; an arm that has, at a distal end, an arm head, and is rotatably supported by the arm supporter; a drive device that allows the arm to be rotationally displaced between a state where the arm head pushes the striking surface of the percussion instrument and a state where the arm head is separated from the striking surface; a control device that controls the drive device in accordance with a control program; and an operation device that outputs a drive instruction signal to the control device in response to an operation by a user.
Handheld electronic musical percussion instrument
An apparatus, system, and method for an electronic handheld musical instrument that generates electronic signals for processing by a processor-based module to generate musical sounds adapted to replicate non-electronic traditional hand percussion and other handheld instruments, is provided. A piezoelectric-based trigger is secured in an enclosed volume or enclosure formed in the electronic handheld musical instrument. When manipulated by a musician in a normal fashion, freely moving beads float or travel within the enclosure of the electronic handheld musical instrument and strike against a sensitive face of the piezoelectric transducer device to create a desired sound effect.
