Medical devices for generating heat and methods of treatment using same

A device comprising a heat-generating component that comprises an alkali metal is provided. The alkali metal in the presence of water at a point of contact of the device undergoes an exothermic reaction to generate heat in situ. The amount of heat generated is proportional to and/or limited by the amount (or moles) of water at the point of contact, and the heat generated is sufficient to achieve an increase in temperature at the point of contact to achieve a therapeutic or beneficial result. In one embodiment, the device is used for reducing sweat production in a subject suffering from excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. In other embodiments, the device is used to substantially sterilize a surface or render a surface substantially aseptic.

TEXTILE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

The present disclosure generally relates to a textile (100) and a manufacturing method (200) thereof. The textile (100) comprises: a fabric body (102) formed from one or more types of yarns; a continuous channel (104) formed within the fabric body (102); and an insulated conductive element (106) disposed within the continuous channel (104), wherein the textile (100) is heatable in response to electrical current being conducted through the insulated conductive element (106).

Cold and Hot Thermal Treatment Device
20210196504 · 2021-07-01 ·

The present disclosure relates to a cold and hot thermal treatment device. Hot heat and cold heat are produced by a heat production unit and are periodically and repeatedly transferred to a heat transfer unit that is in contact with a human body such that a temperature is not suddenly changed but is gradually changed. Thus, the device may be used when diagnosing whether vascular reactivity is maintained in corresponding hands and feet, may generate a temperature stimulus, and may repeatedly perform the temperature stimulus, thereby improving the vascular reactivity.

METHODS AND DEVICES FOR THERMOREGULATION OF CORE BODY TEMPERATURE THROUGH APPLICATION OF NEAR INFRARED RADIATION AND LOCALIZED THERMAL TRANSFER ON SKIN SURFACES
20210275349 · 2021-09-09 ·

The invention presents methods and devices for controlling and modifying the core body temperature of a human or other mammal. The apparatus contains an element to be placed in contact with an individual's skin, such as the palm of a hand or sole of a foot; the element emits radiation, preferably within the red to infrared range of 550 nm to 950 nm, inducing vasodilation and increased blood flow in the region beneath the contacting area. A heat exchange element is concurrently in contact with the skin, capable of transferring heat into or removing heat from the circulatory vasculature, through the skin surface. The circulatory system carries the increase or decrease in thermal energy to the body's core organs. As such the method and devices are capable of increasing or decreasing the core body temperature, or maintaining current core body temperature in the presence of external thermal elements.

A hemostasis promoting method and a hemostasis assisting tool are capable of promoting hemostasis on a puncture site. The hemostasis promoting method is a method of promoting hemostasis on a puncture site formed in a radial artery among the radial artery and an ulnar artery that are branched from a brachial artery in an arm and that extend parallel to each other. The hemostasis promoting method makes a temperature of a body surface around the radial artery higher than a temperature of a body surface around the ulnar artery such that the temperature of the radial artery will be higher than the temperature of the ulnar artery.

LIGHT-BASED TREATMENT DEVICES AND METHODS

A light treatment device includes a stacked structure for applying a light treatment to a patient's skin. The stacked structure includes a light source configured to emit treatment light, and a light diffusing layer. The light diffusing layer is configured to receive the emitted treatment light, diffuse the treatment light, and output diffused treatment light.
