Other embodiments provide a method for cooling tissue comprising applying a tubular contact cooler to a patient's tissue configured to circulate a cooling fluid through the interior of the contact cooler; wherein the cooling fluid's temperature is below 14 Celsius and the contact cooler is shaped to a contour of tissue. Other embodiment provide a recirculating anesthetic cooling system for numbing a patient's intra-oral tissues comprising a contact cooler comprising a contact cooler inlet, a contact cooler outlet, a buccal portion, and a lingual portion, a fluid cooler comprising a fluid cooler outlet connected to the contact cooler inlet and a fluid cooler inlet connected to the contact cooler outlet, and a cooling fluid disposed throughout the contact cooler and the fluid cooler; wherein the cooling fluid is circulated from the contact cooler to the fluid cooler and the fluid cooler reduces the cooling fluid's temperature to a desired temperature.

Low energy acoustic pulse apparatus and method

An apparatus for generating an acoustic energy pulse and delivering it into a body is described. The apparatus includes a generator for creating an acoustic energy pulse having an energy density field that can be measured at all points within a space in the shape of an imaginary cylinder having a length greater than or equal to 2 cm and a diameter. The cylindrically shaped space has a cylinder longitudinal axis oriented relative to a longitudinal axis of the energy pulse at an angle in the range from zero to twenty degrees. A minimum energy density for the pulse at all locations within the cylindrically shaped space is at least 50% of a maximum energy density for the pulse within the space.

THERMAL DEVICES

A thermal device includes a first thermal unit, a second thermal unit, and device electronics. The first thermal unit includes a first plurality of semiconductor elements sandwiched between first and second thermal unit substrates. The first thermal unit substrate exchanges heat with a user. The second thermal unit includes a second plurality of semiconductor elements sandwiched between third and fourth thermal unit substrates. The third thermal unit substrate exchanges heat with the user. The device electronics are coupled to the first thermal unit and the second thermal unit. The device electronics operate the first thermal unit in a heating state in which the first thermal unit transfers heat to the user via the first thermal unit substrate. The device electronics operate the second thermal unit in a cooling state in which the second thermal unit removes heat from the user via the third thermal unit substrate.

Apparatus and methods for transurethral treatment of stress urinary incontinence

Transurethral ultrasound treatment system and methods that provide targeted treatment zones outside urethra via an applicator with multiple sectors, a urethral cooling balloon, and bladder positioning balloon for directed application in muscle tissue. In one embodiment, the system and methods are configured to generate thermal lesions via simultaneous sonication or activation of two separate sectors from a tubular device, with an inactive zone directed toward vaginal wall or nerves.

At-Home Light-Emitting Diode and Massage Device for Vaginal Rejuvenation

A light emitting module and massage device provide vaginal rejuvenation. The device exposes collagen in the vaginal area or mucosa to temperatures elevated over normal body temperature to cause the collagen to reversibly or irreversibly denature while simultaneously applying vibration. Once thermally-induced collagen denaturation has occurred, both neoelastogenesis and neocollagenesis may occur and may be initiated with fibroblast proliferation, which may be promoted with vibration. Neofibrogenesis also occurs due to the fibroblastic activity, responsible for secretion of new collagen matrix to effect tissue repair. Thus, the device exploits thermally-induced collagen denaturation and repair along with simultaneous vibration to improve tissue tone, connective tissue tension and bulk tissue regeneration.
