A method of processing an audio signal includes determining an average signal-to-noise ratio for the audio signal over time. The method includes, based on the determined average signal-to-noise ratio, a formant-sharpening factor is determined. The method also includes applying a filter that is based on the determined formant-sharpening factor to a codebook vector that is based on information from the audio signal.
Methods for improving high frequency reconstruction
The present invention proposes a new method and a new apparatus for enhancement of audio source coding systems utilising high frequency reconstruction (HFR). It utilises a detection mechanism on the encoder side to assess what parts of the spectrum will not be correctly reproduced by the HFR method in the decoder. Information on this is efficiently coded and sent to the decoder, where it is combined with the output of the HFR input.
Multi-channel decorrelator, multi-channel audio decoder, multi-channel audio encoder, methods and computer program using a premix of decorrelator input signals
A multi-channel decorrelator for providing a plurality of decorrelated signals on the basis of a plurality of decorrelator input signals is configured to premix a first set of N decorrelator input signals into a second set of K decorrelator input signals, wherein K<N. The multi-channel decorrelator is configured to provide a first set of K′ decorrelator output signals on the basis of the second set of K decorrelator input signals. The multi-channel decorrelator is further configured to upmix the first set of K′ decorrelator output signals into a second set of N′ decorrelator output signals, wherein N′>K′. The multi-channel decorrelator can be used in a multi-channel audio decoder. A multi-channel audio encoder provides complexity control information for the multi-channel decorrelator.
Robust spectral encoding and decoding methods
Spectral encoding methods are more robust when used with improved weak signal detection and synchronizations methods. Further robustness gains are achieved by using informed embedding, error correction and embedding protocols that enable signal to noise enhancements by folding and pre-filtering the received signal.

LEVEL-OF-DETAIL AUDIO CODEC
Techniques are described for audio decoding for, in an example, computer games. Audio is delivered in packets. The components of a packet are sorted in the time domain or the frequency domain by magnitude. An elimination threshold can be dynamically established with components below the threshold being eliminated from processing by the receiver, to save processing requirements.
