METHOD FOR SPEECH-TO-SPEECH CONVERSION
The present disclosure relates to a streaming speech-to-speech conversion model, where an encoder runs in real time while a user is speaking, then after the speaking stops, a decoder generates output audio in real time. A streaming-based approach produces an acceptable delay with minimal loss in conversion quality when compared to other non-streaming server-based models. A hybrid model approach for combines look-ahead in the encoder and a non-causal stacker with non-causal self-attention.
Loudness Assistance System
The present disclosure provides generally for a wearable assistance device and software that may provide a measure of feedback to prompt a speaker to alter or change their vocal loudness as appropriate. According to the present disclosure, an assistance device may pair with other devices to facilitate, simplify, or amplify this feedback. The assistance device may also keep track of a speaker's progress, offer training and calibration modules, and learn when a speaker is more likely to need prompting. The assistance device may be part of a series of interchangeable assistance devices with similar functionality to be swapped out as needed by the speaker. The assistance devices may also have distance and situational awareness to alter its settings, either initiated by the speaker or on its own, to prompt a speaker appropriately.
Communication and speech enhancement system
A communication and speech enhancement system featuring a first transducer designed to be temporarily affixed to a human such as a hospital patient to convert the audible vibrations of human speech into an electrical signal. The transducer provides this electrical signal to one or more electronic modules which modify and enhance the signal. The enhanced signal may then be amplified and converted back into audible sound by means of a second transducer. A user of the system controls the electronic modules through a user interface. In an embodiment, one or both of the user interface and second transducer feature smooth surfaces amenable to cleaning sterilizing with liquid agents.
Hearing device comprising an adaptive filter bank
A hearing device comprises a) at least one input transducer configured to pick up sound from an acoustic environment around the user when the user is wearing the hearing device, the at least one input transducer providing at least one electric input signal representative of said sound, b) at least one analysis filter bank configured to provide said at least one electric input signal as a multitude of frequency sub-band signals, the at least one analysis filter bank comprising b1) a plurality of M first filters h.sub.m(n), whose impulse responses are modulated from a first prototype filter h(n), where m=0, 1, . . . , M1 is a frequency band index, and n is a time index, c) a processor for processing said at least one electric input signal provided by said at least one analysis filter bank, or a signal originating therefrom, and providing a processed signal, d) an output transducer configured to provide stimuli perceivable as sound to the user in dependence of said processed signal, and e) a controller for controlling said analysis filter bank by applying a different first prototype filter to said at least one filter bank in dependence of said current acoustic environment. A method of operating a hearing device is further disclosed.
Audio output module for use in artificial voice systems
The invention disclosed is an improved audio output module for use with an artificial voice generation device, having a housing separated into a sound system chamber, an interface chamber, and a power source chamber. The interface and power source chambers may be combined. The sound chamber is isolated from external air by the housing, the cover plate, and a separating wall, which separates it from other chambers of the module. Volumetric parameters based on speaker characteristics and design requirements can thus be implemented independent from the choice of interface type. The module is configurable to be mounted to an external structure or to a speech generating system. It may likewise be detachable from a quick release cradle and receive wireless audio signals from the speech generating system.

Devices that train voice patterns and methods thereof
A voice enhancement device including an earpiece configured to be positioned in an ear canal of a user. A microcontroller is operatively coupled to the earpiece. The microcontroller is configured to selectively provide at least multitalker babble. An accelerometer is located within the earpiece and operatively coupled to the microcontroller. The accelerometer is configured to detect speech by the user and communicate with the microcontroller to provide the multitalker babble to the earpiece during the detected speech by the user. A method of making the voice enhancement device, and a method for increasing vocal loudness in a patient using the voice enhancement device are also disclosed.
The sound cham-ber is isolated from external air by the housing, the cover plate, and a separating wall, which separates it from other chambers of the module.
