A method of using an ice therapy machine involves replacing water with windshield washer fluid containing ethanol or ethylene glycol, and placing the main unit of the ice therapy machine, including the ice chest and pump, in a freezer to prevent the ice in the ice chest from melting. The freezer has been modified to include openings for passage of the fluid-circulating tubes of the ice therapy machine, and an opening for the power cord of the ice therapy machine, which supplies power to the pump. Alternatively, the door of the freezer may be replaced by an insulated panel having openings for the coolant circulating tubes and power cord. An on/off switch may be installed in the power cord so that the pump can be turned on and off without having to open the freezer door.

MEDICINAL HERBAL COMPOSITION FOR EYE APPLICATION

An apparatus that includes a frame is for securely holding the medication pad with a moisturized medication compartment held by a holder. The frame holds the medication pad to apply the medication to the eyes wherein the frame further includes a controllable heating element for heating the medication pad. The medication pad further comprises a moisturized compartment containing moisturized extracts of herbal medication for generating and applying a medication steam to the eyes when the heating element is controlled to apply heat to the medication pad.

Patient warming device with patient access

A patient warming device with patient access for maintaining normothermia and/or treating hypothermia is provided. The device includes a first compliant layer and a second compliant layer sealed together around an outer border to contain a liquid between the two layers and to form a wrap that surrounds and conforms to a body portion of a patient. A plurality of flaps extends from opposite sides of a generally longitudinal central portion of the wrap, such that one or more flaps from the opposite sides fasten to each other to surround the body portion. The flaps are openable during functional use to provide access to an underlying patient body surface. A continuous fluid flow path extends between the first compliant layer and the second compliant layer between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet to carry liquid and deliver heat through the wrap.

HOT/COLD TEMPERATURE TREATMENT APPARATUS

A topical cooling device for cooling and desensitizing the surface of the skin of a patient is provided that includes a thermally insulating container having at least one side wall, an open end and a closed end, and internal cavity. A thermally transmitting member is included for closing the open end of said container. A refrigerant medium is provided within the cavity of the container and in contact said thermally transmitting member for cooling the surface of the skin of a patient in contact with the thermally transmitting member. The refrigerant medium can be hypertonic aqueous sodium chloride solution. The thermally transmitting member can be flexible bladder that is received within the container where the refrigerant medium is thermally insulated by the container. A lid can be attached to the open end of the container to close the device until ready for use.

COOLING PACK AND THERAPEUTIC TOOL USED IN COOLING THERAPY

A cooling pack is provided that can both maintain the human body at a suitable, low temperature and ensure a sufficient usage time. The present invention, in one aspect thereof, is directed to a cooling pack that cools a human body. The cold storage layer includes: a freezing medium having a phase transition temperature specified in a range of temperature suitable to maintain the human body at low temperature; and a cold-storage-layer-packaging member containing the freezing medium therein. The buffer layer includes: an antifreeze medium flexible at the phase transition temperature of the freezing medium; and a buffer-layer-packaging member made of a flexible material and containing the antifreeze medium therein. The buffer layer has a prescribed thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, thermal effusivity, and heat transmission coefficient. The buffer layer is brought into contact with human skin to transfer heat between the human body and the cold storage layer.
