Actuator joint with non-straight edge
A suspension is described. The suspension includes a base plate and a load beam coupled to the base plate. The base plate includes a distal elongated element and a proximal elongated element. The distal elongated element includes at least one non-straight baseplate edge and the proximal elongated element includes at least one non-straight baseplate edge. The load beam includes a first mounting shelf and a second mounting shelf. The load beam is coupled to the base plate such that the first mounting shelf is exposed adjacent to the distal elongated element, and the second mounting shelf is exposed adjacent to the proximal elongated element. The first and second mounting shelves are configured to receive an actuator, such that an edge of the actuator and the at least one non-straight baseplate edge forms a gap.
WIRING CIRCUIT BOARD
A suspension board with circuit extending in a predetermined direction includes a base insulating layer, and a conductive layer disposed on one side in a thickness direction of the base insulating layer. The base insulating layer includes a first body base and a second body base disposed spaced apart from each other in a width direction, and a connection portion connecting a portion of the first body base in the longitudinal direction to a portion of the second body base in the longitudinal direction. The suspension board with circuit further includes a reinforcing portion disposed on the surface of the connection portion and reinforcing the connection portion. The reinforcing portion includes two or more resin layers laminated in the thickness direction, or a metal member.
HEAD SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY AND DISK DEVICE
A head suspension assembly includes a support plate, a wiring member on the support plate, a head mounted on the wiring member and electrically connected to the wiring member, and a piezoelectric element mounted on the wiring member. The piezoelectric element has first and second electrodes electrically connected to the wiring member. The wiring member includes a metal layer, a base insulating layer, a conductive layer, and a cover insulating layer stacked in order. The cover insulating layer includes a pad opening through which the first electrode is connected to the conductive layer with a conducive adhesive therebetween. The base insulating layer includes a first region below the first pad opening and a second region below a side surface of the piezoelectric element. A thickness of the base insulating layer in the second region is less than a thickness of the base insulating layer in the first region.

A flexure is described, which includes conductive traces extending from a proximal end of the flexure to a distal end of the flexure. The flexure also includes a plurality of outer gimbal struts configured to define an opening at the proximal end of the flexure. The flexure also includes an oblong feature extending into the opening, the oblong feature defines an aperture. The conductive traces include a first semi-circular conductive trace portion overlapping a first section of the oblong feature at a proximal end of the aperture extending to a distal end of the aperture. The conductive traces include a second semi-circular conductive trace portion overlapping a second section of the oblong feature at a proximal end of the aperture extending to the distal end of the aperture. The first and second semi-circular conductive trace portions define the aperture.

A method of manufacturing a disk drive suspension includes applying an adhesive to an actuator mounting portion, increasing viscosity of the adhesive by emitting light to the adhesive applied to the actuator mounting portion, arranging the piezoelectric element on the adhesive having the increased viscosity, detecting a height of the piezoelectric element arranged on the actuator mounting portion, and correcting an irradiation condition of the light in accordance with the detected height of the piezoelectric element.

According to one embodiment, a head actuator includes a first suspension assembly including a first support plate, a first wiring member with first wiring lines, and a first head, and a second suspension assembly including a second support plate, a second wiring member with second wiring lines, and a second head. The second wiring lines include at least four second read lines and at least four second write lines. At least two of the first read lines and at least two of the first write lines are arranged at a position offset to the second read lines and the second write lines in a width direction of the wiring member.

The data storage disk is attached to the base and has a read/write surface defining an x-y plane. The actuator arm is attached to the base at a first pivot point to rotate parallel to the x-y plane. The suspension is attached to the actuator arm at a second pivot point, the suspension having a first end comprising a curved edge surface, and a second end supporting a head that is configured to interact with the read/write surface. The piezoelectric actuator is disposed on the actuator arm and comprises a biasing finger configured to contact the curved edge surface to rotate the suspension parallel to the x-y plane about the second pivot point. According to one embodiment, a suspension assembly includes a support plate, a wiring member disposed on the support plate, and a head supported on the support plate through the wiring member. The wiring member includes a distal end portion electrically connected to the head, a connection end portion extending outside the support plate, and a plurality of wirings extending between the distal end portion and the connection end portion. The connection end portion includes an opening with predetermined length and width and thirteen or more connection terminals disposed in the opening and arranged at intervals in a direction of the length. A percentage of an area of the opening occupied by areas of the thirteen or more connection terminals is 40% to 65% inclusive.
