The wiring member includes a distal-end portion electrically connected to the head, a connection end portion extending outside the support plate. The connection end portion includes a cover layer with an opening having a length, thirteen or more connection terminals opposed to the opening, arranged at intervals in a length direction of the opening and connected to wires, respectively, and a base layer superposed on the cover layer and the connection terminals and having first openings opposed to part of each of the connection terminals and second openings opposed to a space between adjacent connection terminals.

The housing has an internal space. The internal wireless communication device generates at least either of: an electric signal representing information to be written to the recording medium, the electric signal corresponding to light, a magnetic field, or an electric field generated by an external wireless communication device; and light, a magnetic field, or an electric field toward the external wireless communication device, the light, the magnetic field, or the electric field corresponding to an electric signal representing information read from the recording medium. The internal component in the internal space is electrically connected to the magnetic head, the internal component that communicates with an external component located outside the housing through the internal wireless communication device and the external wireless communication device.

The housing has an internal space. The internal wireless communication device generates at least either of: an electric signal representing information to be written to the recording medium, the electric signal corresponding to light, a magnetic field, or an electric field generated by an external wireless communication device; and light, a magnetic field, or an electric field toward the external wireless communication device, the light, the magnetic field, or the electric field corresponding to an electric signal representing information read from the recording medium. The internal component in the internal space is electrically connected to the magnetic head, the internal component that communicates with an external component located outside the housing through the internal wireless communication device and the external wireless communication device.

The trace member includes a metal plate, and a multilayered member on the metal plate. The multilayered member includes a mount portion on which the drive element is mounted, and a branching portion arranged along the mount portion with a gap therebetween. At least one portion of the branching portion is formed into a thin portion having a thickness less than other portions of the multilayered member.

The wiring board unit includes a flexible printed wiring board including a base portion and at least two extension portions extending from the base portion, and each of the extension portions includes a joint portion provided with connection pads and a cutting work trace portion. One joint portion is attached to a first actuator block, and the connection end portion of a first wiring member is joined to the connection pads. Another joint portion is attached to a second actuator block, and the connection end portion of a second wiring member is joined to the connection pad.

The flexible printed circuit board includes a surface, a first fixed part fixed to a first component, and a second fixed part fixed to a second component, and is electrically connected to the first magnetic head through the first wiring member. The wire on the flexible printed circuit board extends along the surface such that the wire extends between the first fixed part and the second fixed part in a direction intersecting at an angle of lager than 45 degrees and not larger than 90 degrees with an extending direction of a virtual shortest line that connects the first fixed part to the second fixed part along the surface.

In the gimbal portion, the wiring member includes a head mounting region where the magnetic head is mounted, and an etching region including a recess located and formed at least partially in the head mounting region. The magnetic head is bonded to the head mounting region of the wiring member by an adhesive filled in the head mounting region and the recess.
