Heating devices
A heating device includes a heating unit and device electronics. The heating unit is configured to deliver heat to a user's body. The heating unit includes a substrate and a heating element supported by the substrate. The device electronics are coupled to the heating element and are configured to store a first heating profile that includes data indicating how power should be delivered to the heating element over a first period of time. The device electronics are configured to deliver power to the heating element according to the first heating profile. The device electronics are configured to wirelessly receive a second heating profile from an external computing device. The second heating profile includes data indicating how power should be delivered to the heating element over a second period of time. The device electronics are configured to deliver power to the heating element according to the second heating profile.
Monitoring the cooling of subcutaneous lipid-rich cells, such as the cooling of adipose tissue
A system and method of monitoring, controlling and/or detecting events during the removal of heat from subcutaneous lipid-rich tissue is described. In some examples, the system detects an increase in temperature at a treatment device in contact with the skin of a subject, determines that the increase in temperature is related to a treatment event, and performs an action based on the determination. In some examples, the system shuts off the treatment device, alerts an operator, or reduces the cooling in response to a determined treatment event.
Pain management and post-operative hip orthosis
An improved pain management and post-operative hip orthosis includes a waist strap having first and second ends, a lower strap having first and second ends, and a pocket extending between the waist strap and lower strap. The pocket has inner and outer panels fastened to each other to define an upper opening and a lower opening. A cooling pack including a reservoir and inlet and outlet tubes extending from a bottom of the reservoir is applied to the pocket such that the inlet and outlet tubes pass through the lower opening of the pocket.
Temperature controlled and vibrating therapeutic garment
A temperature controllable wrap assembly that includes a wrap portion configured to be worn around a user's body part, and at least a first temperature control module positioned on the wrap portion. The first temperature control module includes a housing, a controllable temperature element, a spreader member and at least a first finger spreader pivotably attached to the spreader member. The lower surface of the spreader member is positioned to contact the user's body part. The controllable temperature element is configured to transfer thermal energy to an upper surface of the spreader member, and the spreader member is configured to conduct thermal energy to the first finger spreader.
Method and apparatus of a self-managed portable hypothermia system
Disclosed herein is a method to enable a user to use a hypothermia system to cool a body part involved in cancer therapy or in brain trauma. The method enables the user to operate the hypothermia system by her- or himself and still be mobile. The hypothermia system comprises a conformal cap system, a thermally conductive liquid located between the body part to be cooled and the cap system, thermal transfer fluids, phase change materials, thermally insulated cooler, physical measuring devices, mechanical and electrical components, a ‘smart’ user interface device, a battery, and an uninterruptible power controller. The method allows a user to control the rate of and temperature of cooling down the body part, exhibits parameters associated with the process of cooling the body part, provides alerts if necessary, is portable and entirely self-managed. The hypothermia device is in communication with and can be controlled by an application installed on a smart device, such as a phone. The method of using the hypothermia system can help to eliminate hair loss caused by the side effects of certain chemotherapy treatments or to reduce the metabolic rate of ischemic tissue to prevent or minimize the severity of swelling.
Adjustable low-profile orthopedic hip brace
A hip brace is provided which includes an iliac crest pressure plate, a femur pressure plate, a quadriceps pressure plate, and a bracket to connect the plates. The bracket includes one or more adjustable hinges to adjust positioning of at least one of the iliac crest pressure plate, the femur pressure plate, or the quadriceps pressure plate to correspond with dimensions of a user. The bracket further includes a range of motion restriction dial to control flexion or extension of the hip of the user, where the range of motion restriction is positioned on the bracket to correspond to the femur pressure plate.
ENDOTHERMIC COMPRESSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Devices and systems for providing cooling and compression to a site needing hemostasis can include a compression member having a component that can be inflated with one or more fluids, including a coolant solution. Cooling can be initiated and maintained by securing such a device to the site and optionally equipping the device with the coolant solution. A system can include materials for equipping the device with a coolant solution.
TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED AND VIBRATING THERAPEUTIC STRAP ASSEMBLY
A wearable temperature control assembly includes a temperature control module comprising a contact and a thermal element configured to heat or cool the contact. The assembly also includes a primary strap configured to receive the temperature control module and secure the contact against a subject. The assembly also includes a secondary strap configured to be connected to the primary strap. The secondary strap is configured to provide adjustment of a pressure between the contact and the subject when the primary strap secures the contact to the subject.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL FACE MASK / HELMET FACE COVERING WITH UNIVERSAL COOL FILTER ICE PACK INSERTS
A multifunctional face mask assembly apparatus to help to prevent or reduce heat-related illness for individuals working in high temperature environments. Fastened to the face, head and neck, to provide a cool ambient microclimate and/or aid in lowering skin temperature around the face, head and neck to aid in cooling the regulation of cerebral blood flow by means of the Hypothalamus which is responsible for regulating body temperature. The multifunctional face mask assembly use ice cooling technology to help lower temperatures when experiencing hot flashes, aid in reducing the onset of a fever, aid in improving performance by means of pre-cooling, intermittent cooling, per/mid-cooling or post-cooling during exertional sports, fitness and/or exercises, use in Cooling Centers to lower temperature around the face, head and neck. The apparatus is optionally housed, secured or attached within the nose cup cavity opening of an elastomeric half facepiece reusable respirator, full facepiece respirator, resistance training mask, dust particle mask or face mask. The apparatus is optionally use to housed, secured or attached to handheld/portable Nebulizer mask, elastomeric half facepiece reusable respirator, resistance training mask, dust particle mask or face mask nose cup. The apparatus is fashioned, designed, shaped or configured for use as a Helmet Face Covering for (e.g., professional, college, schools, recreation, entertainment, leisure or, outdoor recreational activities).
