System and Method for Importing and Exporting Data Between Tapes to Cloud Storage

Methods, system and computer program product, the method comprising: from high level language code (HLLC), receiving a request for reading a data set from a tape onto an object storage connected over TCP/IP to a mainframe; from the HLLC, allocating a data set on a tape comprising information to be imported, the allocation being in a format of the stored data set record and associated with a JFCB, the tape is mounted in SL mode; updating the JFCB to BLP mode; reading from the tape VOL1 data, and for each stored file initiating by the HLLC: reading HDR1/2, content block-by-block; EOF1/2 of the file; organizing the VOL1, HDR1, HDR2, content, EOF1 and EOF2 in the object storage; and closing the tape, wherein said reading is performed without setting a JES of the mainframe to BLP mode, and said reading is performed without unmounting the tape after each file.

DATA STORAGE DEVICE HAVING DUAL ACTUATORS AND METHOD FOR EMERGENCY POWER OFF RETRACT (EPOR) OF DUAL ACTUATORS

A data storage device comprises a lead actuator that actuates a first read-write head over a first disk and a support actuator that actuates a second read-write head over a second disk. A spindle motor rotates the first and second disks. In response to an emergency power off (EPO) event, a processing device retracts and parks the actuators using an internal supply voltage generated from a back electromotive force (BEMF) voltage of the spindle motor, and brakes the spindle motor. The spindle motor is not braked until both the lead and support actuators have been retracted and parked.

MANAGEMENT OF ACTUATOR DYNAMICS IN A MULTIPLE ACTUATOR HARD DISK DRIVE WITH AN UNEQUAL NUMBER OF HEADS ON THE TWO OUTER ARMS OF EACH ACTUATOR

A hard disk drive includes multiple actuator assemblies, each of which includes a head-stack assembly (HSA) including an end-arm to which a single head-gimbal assembly (HGA) is coupled, where this end-arm is configured with a notch along one side and a triangular or quadrilateral-shaped through-hole at a root-side of the end-arm, and where the HSA further includes a plurality of other end- and inner-arms to each of which two HGAs are coupled and none of which have a through-hole near their root. The single-HGA end-arm may be further configured with an outer damper having a through-hole coincident with the end-arm through-hole, such that the through-hole of the end-arm is not covered by this damper, and an inner damper having no through-hole, such that the through-hole of the end-arm is covered by this damper. Gains are thereby better matched across all HGAs for problematic arm and system modes.

Magnetic disk device and manufacturing method thereof

A controller for a magnetic disk device acquires a reproduction signal of servo burst data while moving a magnetic head along data tracks that intersect servo tracks at a plurality of points. The controller acquires correction values for correcting repeatable runout on a per servo sector basis based on the reproduction signal. The correction values include a first correction value, which is a correction value for a servo sector at a position where the data track and the servo track are substantially parallel to each other and a second correction value, which is a correction value fora servo sector at a position where the data track and the servo track are not substantially parallel to each other. The controller adjusts the first correction value based on the second correction value, and writes the correction values including the adjusted first correction value onto a magnetic disk.
