Co-located gimbal-based dual stage actuation disk drive head suspension manufacturing method with non-parallel motors
Embodiments of disk drive head suspensions are described that include a spring metal layer. The spring metal layer includes a base region, support arms extending from the base region, and a slider mounting region. The slider mounting region includes a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a pair of motor openings. The motor openings are configured to receive motors such that the longitudinal axes of the motors are non-parallel with the longitudinal axis of the slider mounting region. The suspensions include traces that include a base portion on the base region of the spring metal layer, a spring metal-unsupported portion extending from the base region to the slider mounting region, and a slider mounting portion extending from the spring metal-unsupported portion onto the slider mounting region. And, the suspensions include an insulating layer between portions of the spring metal layer and the conductor layer.
DATA STORAGE DEVICE COUPLING/DECOUPLING ACTUATOR ARM TO/FROM AN ACTUATOR
A data storage device is disclosed comprising a first head connected to a distal end of a first actuator arm, a second head connected to a distal end of second first actuator arm, a first coupler configured to couple the first actuator arm to an actuator, and a second coupler configured to couple the second actuator arm to the actuator. Access commands stored in a command queue are sorted into an execution order based on a selective coupling of the first and second actuator arms to the actuator. At least one of the access commands is executed based on the execution order in order to access at least one of a first and second disk surfaces using at least one of the first and second heads.
Actuator assembly having dual sensors for detecting the vibration on magnetic disk device
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device includes a base that includes a bottom wall and side walls standing along a circumference of the bottom wall, a housing that includes a cover facing the bottom wall and closing the base, an actuator assembly that is housed inside the housing and is rotatable around a rotation axis, a head movably supported by the actuator assembly, a control circuit board provided outside of the housing, a first sensor disposed on the control circuit board, and a second sensor disposed inside the housing.
Concurrent logging of data layers within a tape storage device
Concurrent standard/high resolution logging of critical performance metrics and functional data for various functional areas including servo system, dataflow, channel, read/write, speed matching, and error recovery is achieved by segregating one or more rows of the tape map array for the purpose of logging only high resolution data. As performance data is logged to the standard resolution tape map by wrap and regional offset down tape, the reserved high resolution row logs data sequentially in the order it was processed on magnetic tape and not by its position on magnetic tape. The high-resolution performance data is concurrently logged with normal-resolution performance data as a supporting view with more detailed tape processing data should the normal-resolution performance data have inconclusive or insufficient content. High-resolution storage is structured for shorter regional logging or per-dataset logging of critical performance metrics and functional data, referred to herein as performance data.
Magnet for motor of magnetic storage device
Disclosed here is a magnet for use in a motor. The magnet comprises a magnet body. The magnet body comprises a plurality of coated magnetic granules. Each coated magnetic granule of the plurality of coated magnetic granules comprises a magnetic granule and a metallic layer coating the magnetic granule.
SPINDLE MOTOR AND HARD DISK DRIVE DEVICE
A spindle motor includes a rotating part, a base member, a connector, and a connector accommodating recess in the base member. The connector accommodating recess includes a bottom surface and an annular wall surface extending from the bottom surface to the outer surface. A through-hole is formed in the bottom surface. The bottom surface includes a first annular surface extending toward the annular wall surface from a peripheral edge of the through-hole, and a second annular surface extending around the first annular surface on an axial outer surface side of the base member relatively to the first annular surface. The connector contacts the second annular surface. A first gap between the connector and the first annular surface is filled with an adhesive. An interface of the adhesive extends i to protrude from an inner peripheral surface of the through-hole over an entire circumference of the through-hole.
MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE AND DATA PROTECTION METHOD THEREOF
According to one embodiment, a monitoring unit of a magnetic disk device monitors a supply voltage supplied to a plurality of actuators by a first threshold value at which power supply by back electromotive force of a motor is started, and a second threshold value that is larger than the first threshold value. In a case where the supply voltage is lower than or equal to the second threshold value and is higher than the first threshold value, a controller interrupts execution of processing of reading/writing data to a magnetic disk in at least one of the actuators according to a predetermined condition based on execution status of the processing in the actuators.
