Offset reduction for displacement sensor
A device including a displacement measurement circuitry and a charge adjuster circuitry is disclosed. The displacement measurement circuitry may be configured to measure displacement associated with a rotating object. The charge adjuster circuitry is coupled to the displacement measurement circuitry. The charge adjuster circuitry is configured to measure an offset associated with ambient noise in the device over time. The charge adjuster circuitry is further configured to adjust sensors of the displacement measurement circuitry to reduce the measured offset.
Disc drive speaker vibration mitigation
Certain exemplary aspects of the present disclosure are directed towards apparatuses and methods which mitigate the effect of speaker vibration on a disc drive. Audio associated with a speaker output is detected and triggers the generation of an output signal indicative of speaker vibration associated with such an audio output of a speaker. A magnetoresistive transducer of the disc drive is positioned relative to a storage medium based on the output signal, a target data storage location in the storage medium from which data is to be accessed via the positioning, and the position of the transducer. The output signal mitigates the effect of the speaker vibration on the transducer.
Representation of overlapping visual entities
Various embodiments present a combined visual entity that represents overlapping visual entities. The combined visual entity can include a primary visualization that represents one of the overlapping visual entities and annotations that represent others of the overlapping visual entities. For example, a map view can include multiple geographical entities that overlap. A primary visualization can be rendered that represents one of the multiple geographical entities. The primary visualization can be visually annotated (e.g., with symbols, letters, or other visual indicators) to indicate others of the multiple geographical entities. In some embodiments, a zoom operation can cause visual entities to be added and/or removed from the combined visual entity.
Tolerance ring and hard disk device
A tolerance ring includes: a base formed of a strip-like member substantially wound around into a shape; a plurality of projections provided along a winding direction of the base so as to protrude from an outer peripheral surface of the base in a radial direction of the base orthogonal to the outer peripheral surface; at least one extended portion extending from at least one of edge end portions in a width direction of the base, the width direction extending orthogonally to the winding direction and the radial direction. The extended portion extends from a region that includes at least one of a plurality of straight lines passing through respective contact points disposed between a section of the base and a circumscribed circle that circumscribes the section and extend in parallel with the width direction.

Apparatus, systems and processes for reducing a hard disk drive's access time and concomitant power optimization
Rotational latency is reduced in a standard conventional form factor HDD system by replacing, for example, the prior art rotary arm actuator of a conventional HDD, with one or more belts and pulleys and one or more read/write heads mounted on, or otherwise associated with the belts. Multiple scaled iterations facilitate energy savings and power optimized systems, without compromise to data access performance.
DATA STORAGE DEVICE CONCURRENTLY CONTROLLING AND SENSING A SECONDARY ACTUATOR FOR ACTUATING A HEAD OVER A DISK
A data storage device is disclosed comprising a voice coil motor (VCM) and a secondary actuator configured to actuate a head over a disk. A control signal is applied to the secondary actuator while processing a sensor signal generated by the secondary actuator. A vibration signal is generated based on the sensor signal, wherein the vibration signal has a cut-off frequency between ten percent and ninety percent of a bandwidth of a control loop for controlling the secondary actuator.
Linear recording device for executing optimum writing upon receipt of series of commands including mixed read and write commands and a method for executing the same
A tape recording device, method, and computer program product are provided for performing operations of position movement, reading, and writing on a tape medium, and receiving a series of commands from an upper-layer device. The tape recording device includes a buffer for temporarily storing data related to the reading and an append write, a tape for recording the data stored in the buffer, a reading and writing head for reading data from the tape into the buffer and writing the data onto the tape, control means for reading data from a designated position of the tape and storing the data in the buffer, and for writing the data stored in the buffer onto the tape from a written data end position in response to an append write command, and a non-volatile memory for storing data stored in the buffer in response to an append write command.
Motor driver circuit for linear motor, positioning device using the same, and hard disk device
A motor driver circuit includes: a current detection circuit configured to generate a current detection signal according to a drive current of a motor as an object to be driven; a first amplifier configured to amplify the current detection signal; a second amplifier configured to multiply a voltage across the motor by a gain smaller than 1 and output the multiplied voltage; and a third amplifier configured to generate a back electromotive force detection signal according to a difference between an output of the first amplifier and an output of the second amplifier.
Detection device, inspection device, magnetic tape drive, magnetic tape system, detection method, inspection method, and program
A detection device includes a processing device and a storage medium. An ideal waveform signal indicating an ideal waveform of a servo pattern signal which is a result of reading a servo pattern recorded in a servo band of a magnetic tape by a servo reading element is stored in advance in the storage medium. The processing device acquires a servo band signal which is a result of reading the servo band by the servo reading element, and detects the servo pattern signal by comparing the servo band signal with the ideal waveform signal.
