Cold slurry containment
The present invention provides methods and devices for controlling a cold slurry that is delivered to a target tissue and for limiting heat transferring from surrounding tissue to the target tissue. In particular, a balloon structure is deployed at or near a point of delivery to act as a physical and/or thermal barrier. In some instances, the balloon structure can act as a pressure device obstructing the flow of warm blood into a treatment area, which can melt the cold slurry.
Fungal Infection Treatment
A fungal infection treatment includes a container comprised of a thermally conductive material. In this way the container can be heated by the boiled water when the boiled water is poured from the cup into the container. A cover is positionable on the container to close the container to inhibit the boiled water from being spilled from the container. A drape is provided that has an opening extending therethrough. In this way the drape can be positioned on a respective one of the user's appendages having the opening exposing a nail on the respective appendage. The container is positionable in the opening when the drape is positioned on the appendage. In this way the container can transfer heat from the boiled water to the nail on the respective appendage for treating a fungal infection of the nail bed.
Gel Pad Assembly Using Free Rotatable Fluid Joints
A medical pad for exchanging thermal energy between a targeted temperature management (TTM) fluid and a patient is disclosed. The pad can include a fluid containing layer and a fluid conduit attached therewith via rotatable joint where the joint is configured to facilitate rotation of the fluid conduit with respect to the pad. A method of manufacturing the pad can include coupling a first member of the rotatable joint to a fluid delivery line, coupling the second member to the fluid containing layer, and inserting the first member within an opening of the second member to facilitate a snap-fit retention mechanism between first member and the second member. A method of using the pad can include rotating the fluid delivery line relative to the thermal pad via the rotatable joint when initially applying the pad to the patient or when adjusting an orientation of the pad on the patient.
THERMOTHERAPY PACK FOR THE GROIN
Disclosed is a therapy pack for applying thermotherapy to a user's groin for treatment of various conditions or injuries, and to aid in surgical recovery. The therapy pack has an insulated side and an uninsulated side, a two-lobed shape with a soft outer border, and contains a quantity of thermal storage material. The therapy pack also includes one or more window(s) without thermal storage material to reduce proximity of the material to genitalia. Embodiments include a three-window version and a single window version. Embodiments also include the use of one or more supplemental therapy pack(s) and a cover. Also disclosed is a method of using the therapy pack to apply thermotherapy to the male groin. Embodiments of the method include applying the therapy pack with the insulated side facing the user's skin, followed by applying the pack with the uninsulated side facing the skin.
APPARATUSES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF DAMAGED TISSUE
A therapeutic apparatus for treating damaged tissue on a limb or body of a subject includes a wearable adapted to cover and be secured to the limb or body of a subject over damaged tissue. The wearable being configured to reduce pressure on the damaged tissue and adapted to deliver one or more treatments selected from the group consisting of heat, oxygen, electrical current, and light to the damaged tissue.
Cooling tool and treatment tool used in cryotherapy
A human body is cooled at an appropriate temperature, and a sufficient usage time is ensured. A cooling tool according to one aspect of the present invention is a cooling tool for cooling a human body, including a freezing material 30a that undergoes a phase change at a particular temperature and a first container containing the freezing material 30a. The first container transfers heat between the human body and the freezing material at a contact surface in contact with the skin of the human body. At least the contact surface has a thermal effusivity within the possible range of thermal effusivity of the skin of the human body. The contact surface may have a thermal effusivity (J/(m2˜S1/2.Math.K)) of 1,000 to 2,000.
THERAPY DEVICE
A cold and/or hot therapy device that utilizes insulation to maintain its temperature.
ORGAN CONTAINER
An organ container has a contractible and expandable pouch-shaped body having an opening. Under no-load conditions, the opening has a maximum width smaller than a maximum width of the body. The opening is expandable up to a state in which the maximum width of the opening is greater than the maximum width of the body. The body has an inner surface that includes a first region having a smooth curved surface and a second region having an uneven shape. The uneven shape of the inner surface of the body allows a preservation solution to protrude into interstices between an organ and the inner surface and thereby improves a thermal insulating effect. Moreover, by providing the smooth first region, generation of remaining traces can be suppressed. Accordingly, it is possible to effectively suppress a temperature rise in the organ and to reduce damage to the organ.
Athletic chair with adjustable heating and height
A seating assembly for athletes includes seats having a back and seat portion, a base, an adjustable element, a user interface device, and a controller. The back portion includes a back heating member that provides heat to a user's torso. The seat portion includes a lower limb heating member that provides heat to the user's lower limbs. The base supports each seat. The adjustable element is coupled to the base and one of the seats and adjusts height of the seat. The user interface device receives an input regarding a desired temperature of the back heating member and the lower limb heating member. The controller receives the input and adjusts an operation of the back heating member and the lower limb heating member to achieve the desired temperature. The user interface device receives a second input to adjust the a height of the seat relative to the floor surface.
TREATMENT METHOD AND APPARATUS WITH A SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING THE FLOW OF THE GASEOUS MEDIUM
The invention relates to a treatment apparatus comprising an envelope that can be placed on or around a body part of a person such that the envelope has a positioning area (Z) for said body part of the person, the envelope being provided with an inlet (8) for a gaseous medium and an outlet for discharging the gaseous medium present in the envelope. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a control system (11) for controlling the flow of the gaseous medium in order to direct the gaseous medium entering the envelope via the inlet (8) outside the positioning area (Z), and to homogenise the gaseous medium present in the envelope.
