Apparatus for adjusting temperature of body
The invention discloses an apparatus for adjusting the temperature of a body comprising a sheath for providing a channel from outside said body to a cavity inside said body, where said sheath comprises a guiding section being angular to said channel. The apparatus further comprises a heat exchange unit comprising an inlet and an outlet, an outer contour and an inner fluid channel, adapted for inserting through said channel of said sheath.
METHODS OF TREATING TUMORS WITH PRO DRUGS
Methods of treating tumors by administering compounds to a patient are provided. Compounds such as pro drugs, e.g., 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA), may be administered to the patient orally, by injection, intravenously, or topically, which then accumulate preferentially as compounds such as protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) in tumor cells. After such accumulation, compounds such as PpIX are then activated in various aspects to treat tumors cells, thereby treating cancer. Cancers such as glioblastoma may be treated.
METHODS OF USING PLANAR ACOUSTIC WAVES FOR NON-INVASIVE SONODYNAMIC THERAPY
Disclosed are methods of using planar acoustic waves for providing non-invasive sonodynamic therapy. The method includes acoustically coupling an array of flat piezoelectric transducers to a patient. A controller is configured to generate an electrical drive signal at a frequency selected from a range of frequencies, modulate the drive signal, and drive the transducer with the modulated drive signal at the frequency to produce a modulated planar acoustic wave to produce an average acoustic intensity sufficient to activate a sonosensitizer in a treatment region without damaging healthy cells in the treatment region.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL SKIN PATCH
A multifunctional skin patch can be used during a treatment procedure to achieve one or more safety factors, including skin cooling, pain management, laser plume control, and/or proper application of the treatment. The multifunctional skin patch includes a transparent hydrogel layer that can be applied to a patient's skin prior to application of the treatment procedure. The treatment procedure can be conducted through the transparent hydrogel layer, and the transparent hydrogel layer (with can be pre-cooled) can cool and/or control pain within the portion of the patient's skin during and/or after the treatment procedure. In some instances, the multifunctional skin patch can also include a transparent indicator layer (covering at least a portion of the transparent hydrogel layer) with dispersed indicator particles attached thereto and/or embedded within. The indicator particles are configured to change in appearance upon application of treatment procedure through the transparent indicator layer.
COMPRESSIVE CRYO-HEMOSTATIC DEVICE
This is a device, belonging to the medical and hospital artifacts industry, developed to accelerate the hemostatic process for patients undergoing radial punctures, partially compressing the artery subjected to treatment; said cryo-hemostatic device is essentially presented in the form of a wristband (1), providing end bands (2) providing velcro-based closing, interconnected by an intermediate band (3) below which a first cryogenic reservoir pad is located (4), which can be filled with a saline substance by the action of a syringe connected to the first connection nipple (5) attached to the first tube (6), flanked by the second external reservoir pad (7), also provided with a second connection nipple (8), attached to the second tube (9).
GAS BUBBLE REMOVAL FOR ENDORECTAL COOLING DEVICES
An endorectal cooling device (ECD) includes an elongated body, a cooling fluid circuit, and a gas bubble removal device. The elongated body includes an insertable portion for insertion into a patient's rectum and an external portion that remains external to the rectum. The cooling fluid circuit is defined in the elongated body from the external portion to the insertable portion and circulates cooling fluid to regulate a temperature of a cooling surface on the insertable portion. The gas bubble removal device can include a coil, a tube, a mesh, and/or a hole that is disposed on or defined in the insertable portion of the elongated body, such as the cooling surface. A low-pressure source, such as a vacuum pump or a Venturi structure, can be fluidly coupled to the gas bubble removal device to remove fluid and bubbles by a suction force after the ECD is inserted into the rectum.
CERVICAL ORTHOTIC TECHNIQUES
Techniques for a cervical orthotic device are provided. In an example, the device can include a base, sidewalls extending upwardly from the base, and a cervical support surface opposite the base and configured to unite the sidewalls. In certain examples, the sidewalls can include opposingly paired lateral sidewalls and first and second longitudinal sidewalls. In some examples, the cervical support surface can include a first planar portion adjacent the first longitudinal sidewall, a second planar portion adjacent the second longitudinal sidewall, and an arcuate portion intermediate the planar portions.
SKIN AND TISSUE PROTECTION DEVICE FOR AESTHETICS TREATMENTS WITH COLD TEMPERATURES
It comprises at least one first layer (1), at least one second layer (2) on said first layer (1) and joined to it (1), defining inner surfaces (3) between both layers which form at least one housing (111), with both layers (1, 2) being porous and absorbent, and at least one cold conducting anti-freezing gel (4), spread in housing (111), all over inner surfaces (3), with a freezing point below 12 C., and with a viscosity of between 2000 and 90000 cPs at 21 C., which is enough to pass through the pores in layers (1, 2) and come out of housing (111), characterized in that it comprises a reinforcement (100) in at least one of its layers (1, 2) such as a stiffening structure.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF PERIOPERATIVE WARMING
Described are systems and methods of perioperative warming. One method comprises providing a regulated power supply that is controlled by a controller, wherein the regulated power supply provides power to one or more polymer positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heating elements, each PTC heating element having a saturation voltage and a corresponding saturation temperature; applying a first voltage to at least one of the one or more PTC heating elements, wherein the first voltage is greater than the saturation voltage; monitoring a temperature of the one of the one or more PTC heating elements while the first voltage is being applied; and regulating voltage applied to the one of the one or more PTC heating elements as the monitored temperature of the one of the one or more PTC heating elements approaches the saturation temperature of the one of the one or more PTC heating elements.
