FROSTBITE PREVENTION PAD FOR CRYOLIPOLYSIS PROCEDURE
20200214881 · 2020-07-09 · ·

Disclosed is a frostbite prevention pad for a cryolipolysis procedure, which is used for a cryolipolysis procedure using a cryolipolysis device. The frostbite prevention pad includes: a base member made of a fiber material; one or more waterproof members made of a resin material and placed to overlap the base member; and one or more sewn parts formed by sewing the base member and the waterproof member to couple the base member and the waterproof member in a state in which the base member and the waterproof member overlap each other.

Inflatable convective pad for surgery

An inflatable convective pad for warming a person during surgery has two ends, two sides, and at least two openings, each located in an area of the pad between the two ends and between a respective side and the center of the pad. The openings, which may be in the form of slits, allow the threading of a sheet or the person's arms through the pad to restrain the arms during surgery.

A device for warming a medical patient includes a first layer and a radiolucent resistive heating element. The first layer is sized to be positioned under a medical patient. The radiolucent resistive heating element is proximate to the first layer and is configured to generate a thermal energy to warm the first layer to at least 37 C.

Apparatus And Methods For Delivering Cold Perfusion Fluids In Organ Donors
20200163327 · 2020-05-28 ·

The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for increasing the probability of a successful organ donation by decreasing organs' warm ischemia time. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to increasing the pool of eligible donors, including donors who had prior chest surgeries or prior abdominal surgeries. The present disclosure provides a catheter extending through a cannula, wherein the cannula delivers cold perfusion fluid and the catheter blocks the aorta, forcing the cold perfusion fluid to pass to organs in the donor's abdomen. The present disclosure further provides for advancing the catheter from a retracted position to an extended position, and creating a watertight seal at the cannula to prevent backflow of cold perfusion fluid.

Method and Apparatus for Controlling the Inner Temperature of a Patient

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling the inner temperature of a patient, comprising the steps of creating a fluid circuit that comprises a patient and a heat exchanger, the power supply thereto being controlled by a controller; subjecting at least a portion of the fluid in said circuit to the heat exchanger; directing the subjected fluid to and into the patient to control the temperature of the patient; estimating the organ temperature of the patient by a model that has been obtained on a mammal other than the patient; and controlling the power supply to the heat exchanger such that the estimated organ temperature does not exceed a threshold organ temperature, potentially taking into account estimated future organ temperatures. The invention further relates to a method and apparatus for controlling the inner temperature of a patient when subject to whole body hyperthermia, and to a method for obtaining the model.

Core body temperature measurement

Continuous core body temperature measurements are made during hypothermic operations, where the core body temperature of the patient is lowered to reduce swelling. Caregivers monitor the patient's core body temperature to prevent damage that can occur to the patient if the patient's core body temperature becomes too low. To accurately determine the core body temperature of the patient, a temperature monitoring system measures the temperature at or near the surface of the patient and through at least a portion of a thermal block at multiple locations.

Methods of using ultrasound waves for sonodynamic therapy

Disclosed are methods of producing ultrasound waves for providing sonodynamic therapy. The method includes coupling a sonodynamic therapy device with an array of piezoelectric transducer elements to a skin surface. A controller is configured to generate an electrical drive signal to produce ultrasound waves to activate a sonosensitizer in a treatment region without damaging healthy cells in the treatment region.

A Blanket for Forced Air Warming of a Patient

An integrated and modular air and lighting plenum that is the primary directional lighting mounting apparatus and laminar flow diffuser of an HVAC system in a healthcare setting. The plenum provides laminar air flow from the ceiling to the room in which it is located in accordance with HVAC requirements for healthcare environment settings, by using a plurality of cylindrical airflow outlets. The use of cylindrical airflow outlets promotes laminar airflow by reducing sharp boundaries that induce turbulence (e.g., the corners of rectangular or square outlets) and creates a highly sterile environment around the patient and staff in the operating room. The surgical lights used in the integrated air and lighting plenum allow the beam direction, spot size, focal point, brightness, and color temperature of the emitted light to be controlled.

A patient warming system for stabilizing and/or heating and cooling a patient includes a plurality of solid-surface sections arranged for attachment to a surgical table and a warming pad layer comprising a plurality of warming pads configured for removable connection to the plurality of solid-surface sections. At least one of the plurality of solid-surface sections includes a power connector for connection to an external power source. Each warming pad of the plurality of warming pads includes a foam insulation layer, a distributed heating element layer having a warming-pad power connection for connection to the power connector, an isothermal layer, and a flexible waterproof layer. Power supplied to the warming-pad power connection of the distributed heating element layer of the respective warming pad can be used to provide a user-selected uniform temperature over the surface of the flexible waterproof layer in order to prevent hot spots.
