Devices for vestibular or cranial nerve stimulation
A nerve tissue stimulator configured for contacting to or insertion in the body of a subject to stimulate a tissue therein, said probe comprising: (a) a support configured for contacting to or positioning adjacent a tissue of said subject; (b) at least one thermoelectric device (TED) on said support and positioned for thermally stimulating said nerve tissue.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DISSIPATING THERMAL LOADS IN WEARABLE DEVICES
Systems and methods for manipulating the temperature of a surface are described. Described embodiments include thermal adjustment devices that may include a heatsink and that are operated in two or more modes of operation to apply a desired temperature to a user. In one operating mode the thermal adjustment device may apply a first temperature to an underlying surface while generating heat at a rate faster than the heatsink's heat dissipation rate. The thermal adjustment device may then apply a second temperature to reduce the rate of heat generation to be less than the heatsink's heat dissipation rate. These modes of operation may be applied cyclically to permit continuous operation of the thermal adjustment device. In some embodiments, the temperature profile applied when changing between the modes of operation may be selected such that the user experiences either a reduced, or substantially, neutral thermal sensation.
WEARABLE THERMAL DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING THEM
Described herein are forehead-mounted temperature regulation apparatuses and methods of using them. These apparatuses may be used for improving sleep. Also described herein are methods of improving sleep using these apparatuses.
METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR MANIPULATING TEMPERATURE
Methods and apparatuses for manipulating the temperature of a surface are provided. Devices of the present disclosure may include a thermal adjustment apparatus, such as a controller in electrical communication with one or more thermoelectric materials, placed adjacent to the surface of skin. The device may generate a series of thermal pulses at the surface, for providing an enhanced thermal sensation for a user. The thermal pulses may be characterized by temperature reversibility, where each pulse includes an initial temperature adjustment, followed by a return temperature adjustment, over a short period of time (e.g., less than 120 seconds). The average rate of temperature change upon initiation and upon return may be between about 0.1 C./sec and about 10.0 C./sec. In some cases, the average rate of the initial temperature adjustment is greater in magnitude than the average rate of the return temperature adjustment.
System and Method for Providing Anal Perineal Prostate Vaginal Pelvic Floor Contrast Therapy
A system and method for providing Anal Perineal Prostate Vaginal Pelvic Floor contrast therapy are presented. The system may comprise a human interface device, fluid tubing, a pump, and a reservoir. The system may be operable to apply any combination of heat, cold, and pressurized compression to a therapy recipient and demonstrates particular utility for treating anal-prostate-perineal and vaginal areas. The system may be operable to impart a desired therapy temperature to the human interface device and to expand a membrane containing a therapy fluid. The expanded membrane may conform to the contours of a therapy site. Operation of the human interface device may be controlled using a remote-control device. The therapy recipient may be able to control the temperature of the fluid circulating through the membrane and may be able to control the pressure of the fluid within the membrane.
THERMAL CONTRAST THERAPY SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS
The present disclosure relates to thermal contrast therapy systems, and automated thermal contrast therapy devices configured to interact with such systems and to perform customized thermal contrast therapy treatment sequences. Treatments may be prescribed by a treatment provider or selected by a user of a thermal contrast therapy device associated with such a system. In some embodiments, a thermal contrast therapy device may be configured to receive an indication from one or more temperature sensors and/or flow meters and to effect a desired measure of heat transfer during treatment, for example, by automatically adjusting the temperature and/or flow rate of the heat transfer fluid. In some embodiments, a thermal contrast therapy device may be configured to receive an indication of one or more physiological parameter values and to perform a customized thermal contrast therapy treatment sequence based, at least in part, on the one or more physiological parameter values.
Systems, devices and methods for caloric vestibular stimulation having an impedance monitor and/or temperature sensor
An in-ear stimulation device for administering caloric stimulation to the ear canal of a subject includes (a) first and second earpieces configured to be insertable into the ear canals of the subject; (b) at least first and second thermoelectric devices thermally coupled to respective ones of the first and second earpieces; (c) a first heat sink thermally coupled to the first thermoelectric device opposite the first earpiece and a second heat sink thermally coupled to the second thermoelectric device opposite the second earpiece; and (d) a controller comprising a waveform generator in communication with the first and second thermoelectric devices, the waveform generator configured to generate a first control signal to control a first caloric output to the first thermoelectric device and a second control signal to control a second caloric output to the second caloric device.
Heating pad
An improved heating pad which minimizes or eliminates skin burns due to improper uses in one or more of several ways: by monitoring a total electric power input or output of the heating pad; by monitoring an absolute temperature of each surface of the heating pad; by monitoring a temperature difference between each surface of the heating pad, where a small temperature difference indicates that both sides of the heating pad are covered; and/or by monitoring the duty cycle of a heating element, where a large off portion of the duty cycle indicates both sides of the heating pad are covered.
SYSTEM, METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR PROVIDING TRAINING FOR PAIN IMPROVEMENT
The inventive concept refers to a system, a method, and a computer program for providing training for pain improvement. According to an exemplary embodiment, a training providing method for pain improvement includes requesting, by a computer, a temperature providing device to provide a first temperature to a first body point, requesting, by the computer, the temperature providing device to provide a second temperature to a second body point, requesting a user to select a temperature matched with a specific condition among the first temperature and the second temperature, and calculating a correct answer rate after performing a trial of distinguishing between the first temperature and the second temperature by a predetermined number.
