A method according to one embodiment includes: receiving, by a processing system, sensor data from a sensor device carried by a user or attached to the user's sports equipment during a sporting activity; identifying, by the processing system and based on the sensor data, an event engaged in by the user during a time period; determining, based on the sensor data, a position of the user during the event; identifying a camera that is operational and has the user in view during at least a portion of the time period; and selecting video footage of the event from the identified camera.

A recording medium includes a video stream of a standard-luminance range and a video stream of high-luminance range, which are used selectively in accordance with a playback environment. The recording medium also includes a subtitle stream of the standard-luminance range and a subtitle stream of the high-luminance range, which are used selectively in accordance with the playback environment. A system and method are operable within a computer network environment for compiling a singular video file from user-generated video file fragments for playback in tandem with a context-providing audio file. The system includes at least one client operable to generate at least one video file fragment in tandem with audio file content simultaneously consumable via each client. Each video file fragment is generated at or between a select start time and at a select end time during playback of a select audio file content segment, the parent audio file of which segment has a universally unique identifier. A remote service system compiles the video file fragments into a video file fragment compilation for playback progression in tandem with playback of the audio file content based on the select start and end time of the video file fragments as associated with select audio file content segments of the audio file.

A video player includes the user interface comprising: a video display; a texture strip visually representing a series of frames of a video, the texture strip comprising a sequence of textured frame representations, each textured frame representation in sequence of textured frame representations representing a corresponding frame from a series of frames; a control to allow a user to use the texture strip to seek frames in the series of frames in a random manner. A playback device acquires first management information that stores first playback control information and second management information that stores second playback control information. The first playback control information specifies that a video stream of a high-luminance range is to be played, and the second playback control information specifies that a video stream of a standard-luminance range is to be played.
