Enhancing performance of a capsulotomy device
The present disclosure provides a capsulotomy device having a unique insertion sleeve configuration comprising beveling and two notches at the distal end of the insertion sleeve. The unique configuration assures that the motion the capsulotomy loop comprising the heating element goes through during deployment from and retraction into the insertion sleeve is minimized and predictable.
SELF-CONTAINED OCULAR SURGERY INSTRUMENT
A self-contained ocular surgery instrument, including a power module having a body presenting a mating coupler and including a compressed gas supply; a fluid reservoir; an aspiration pump; an aspirated material reservoir and a control panel. The mating coupler is structured to receive and couple to at least one module that facilitates performance of an eye surgery task. The compressed gas supply is coupled to the aspiration pump and the aspirated material reservoir is in fluid communication with the aspiration pump to receive aspirated material from the mating coupler. The fluid reservoir is in fluid communication with the mating coupler such that fluid is supplied under pressure to the mating coupler and thus to the at least one module that facilitates performance of an eye surgery task. The control panel is in controlling communication with the compressed gas supply, the aspiration pump and the aspirated material reservoir.
IMPLANTABLE BIOLOGIC STENT AND SYSTEM FOR BIOLOGIC MATERIAL SHAPING, PREPARATION, AND INTRAOCULAR STENTING FOR INCREASED AQUEOUS OUTFLOW AND LOWERING OF INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE
A system for preparation of an implant and ab interno insertion of the implant into an eye including a handle having one or more actuators and an elongated shaft having an outer sheath and an elongate member positioned within a lumen of the tubular outer sheath. The system includes a recess sized for holding a patch of material fixed relative to the handle and a cutting member movable relative to the handle and to the recess. The cutting member cuts the patch of material into an implant as the cutting member moves towards a cutting configuration. The implant, once cut, is axially aligned with the lumen of the tubular outer sheath. The inner elongate member is movable relative to the tubular outer sheath to advance the implant into a deployment position in the lumen of the tubular outer sheath for delivery into the eye. Related devices and methods are provided.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR OCULAR SURGERY
A handpiece for ocular surgery that includes a handle having at least inlets for irrigation and aspiration; a sleeve extending distally from a first end of the handle, wherein the sleeve comprises a bore extending a length of the sleeve along a central axis of the sleeve, and includes at least one port suitable to deliver irrigation from the irrigation inlet substantially distal from the first end of the handle; the aspiration being provided between an aspiration inlet and a distal bore port; a motor coupled with a second end of the handle and having a shaft; and an auger associated with the shaft, and extending at least partially through an interior portion of the handle between the second and the first ends and extending along the length of the sleeve, wherein a tip of the auger distal to the shaft is advanced by actuation of the motor.
DIGITALLY RECONSTRUCTING LASER CUTTING PATTERNS IN OPHTHALMIC SURGICAL LASER SYSTEM
An ophthalmic surgical laser system includes a laser beam delivery system having multiple moving components for scanning a laser focal spot in a target eye tissue, where the motors that actuate some of the moving components are equipped with respective digital encoders that measure actual motor positions. A controller controls the laser beam delivery system to perform a treatment scan, while recording the actual motor positions from the encoders. Using the actual motor positions and a calibration relationship between actual motor positions and delivered laser focal spot positions in a target tissue, a laser cutting pattern is digitally reconstructed, which represents the incisions actually achieved by the treatment scan. The reconstructed laser cutting pattern may be visually inspected and further analyzed, e.g. to compare it to the intended laser cutting pattern used to execute the treatment scan, to calculate the achieved refractive correction, or to simulate tissue resetting.
PROBE TIP AND INFUSION SLEEVE FOR USE IN OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SURGERY
A phacoemulsification probe for use with eye surgery comprises a probe tip defining a channel there in the probe tip defining an opening having a first diameter for aspirating material from a surgical area long a first vector. The probe tip further defining a channel therein the channel having a second diameter greater than the first diameter of the opening. A flexible sleeve surrounding a body of the probe tip. A first end of the flexible sleeve forming a seal between the probe tip and the flexible sleeve. A remainder of the flexible sleeve defines a second channel between the body of the probe tip and the flexible sleeve. The flexible sleeve further defines an opening for injecting a fluid from the second channel into the surgical area along a second vector.
