Ophthalmic surgical instruments and snares thereof
An ophthalmic surgical instrument includes an elongated shaft and a snare configured to transition between an expanded configuration, in which the snare is sized to encircle lenticular tissue, and a contracted configuration. The snare has a section configured to cooperate with a bottom surface of the elongated shaft to sever the lenticular tissue therebetween upon the snare transitioning toward the contracted configuration.
DUAL PORT PNEUMATIC CONNECTOR
Certain embodiments provide a pneumatic dual port connector (PDPC) configured to be coupled to an interface component of a surgical console. The PDPC comprises a shaft, having a first connector channel having a first distal end and a first proximal end, a second connector channel having a second distal end and a second proximal end, and one or more first features configured to couple the PDPC to the interface component.
Vitrectomy probe with integral valve
A vitrectomy apparatus for performing an ocular surgery may include a vitrectomy probe body graspable by a user and a cutter extending from the body and comprising an inner tube and an outer tube. The inner tube may be moveable relative to the outer tube. The apparatus also may include an actuator within the body and configured to actuate the inner tube relative to the outer tube. A valve may be carried by the body and may be configured to selectively direct a pressurized fluid to the actuator to actuate the inner tube relative to the outer tube.
INFUSION PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEM
An infusion pressure control system for ophthalmic surgery includes intraocular pressure detection means, arterial pressure detection means and a control unit operatively connected to the intraocular pressure detection means and the arterial pressure detection means and configured for calculating the mean ocular perfusion pressure value based on intraocular pressure and arterial pressure values provided by the intraocular pressure detection means and by the arterial pressure detection means, and for comparing the calculated mean ocular perfusion pressure value and at least one predetermined threshold value.
REDUCED VIBRATION VITRECTOMY PROBE
A vitrectomy probe with combined vibration dampening and attenuating. The probe may include a variety of features to lessen the vibrations felt by a surgeon during a vitrectomy procedure. These may include minimizing the degree of flow restriction through a housing that facilitates cutter reciprocation by way of air pressure. Further, utilizing softer stops at a diaphragm that drives the cutter reciprocation may be of benefit as is strategically lessening compressive forces by seals at an extension tube coupled to the diaphragm where possible. The use of a softer gripping component that is actually held by the surgeon may be of benefit in terms of vibration attenuation.
Devices and methods for ocular surgery
Devices, systems, and methods for performing an ophthalmic procedure in an eye are disclosed. The devices include a hand-held portion and a distal, elongate member coupled to the hand-held portion having a lumen operatively coupled to a vacuum source. A drive mechanism operatively coupled to the elongate member is configured to oscillate the elongate member. When in use, the device is configured to aspirate ocular material from the eye through the lumen. The drive mechanism retracts the elongate member with a retraction speed profile and advances the elongate member with an extension speed profile. The retraction speed profile is different from the extension speed profile.
Cataract posterior/wedge chopper
Disclosed here is an apparatus and method for cataract surgery. The apparatus is an instrument referred to as a chopper that allows the reduction or elimination of ultrasound and/or laser energy introduced into the eye during cataract surgery. The chopper instrument is bent at an angle, such as an angle less than 110 degrees or less than 90 degrees, to provide a posterior (to anterior) chopping, and a wedge compression of the cataract. The bend in the chopper instrument, among other features, introduces refined vector forces that help in breaking/chopping the cataract with ease. The apparatus allows laser free/ultrasound free cataract extraction in dense cataracts. The chopper apparatus, a vacuum-tip and the proper vacuum settings, when used for performing a cataract surgery by a surgeon, allows the surgeon to break up the nucleus into small enough fragments that a true ultrasound-free/laser-free small incision cataract surgery can be accomplished with ease.
Vitreous cutter pneumatic driver
Systems and methods for driving the cutter of a vitrectomy handpiece using a substantially hermetically sealed system having a pneumatic pump for alternatively creating both positive pressure for pushing a first side of a diaphragm in the vitreous cutter and pulling negative pressure to pull the other side of the diagram, and vice versa.
Vitrectomy surgical apparatus
A vitrectomy apparatus is provided, including a pressure source, a cut valve connected to the pressure source, the cut valve configured to be turned on and off to provide pressure to selectively extend and retract a vitrectomy cutting device, a sensor configured to sense pressure provided from the cut valve, and a controller configured to control operation of the cut valve based on pressure sensed by the sensor.
Ocular lens cutting device
Ocular lens cutting devices and methods for cutting and removing tissue such as lens fragments from an eye of a patient are disclosed. In one embodiment, an ocular lens cutting device includes an outer member and an inner member positioned within the outer member. The outer member and the inner member can each include at least one cutting edge. The at least one cutting edge of the outer member and the at least one cutting edge of the inner member can cooperate to form a cutting structure as the inner member moves with respect to the outer member. The ocular lens cutting device can also be connected to a vacuum source which can allow the ocular lens cutting device to grasp the tissue to be cut and remove the cut fragments from the surgical area.
