SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PLASMA-MEDIATED MODIFICATION OF TISSUE
A method for cataract surgery on an eye of a patient includes scanning a first focus position of a first pulsed laser beam at a first pulse energy in a first scanning pattern to photodisrupt a tissue structure of a lens with a plurality of pulses of the first laser beam to form one or more cuts within the lens, the cuts being short of reaching a side edge of the lens and being configured to divide the lens into two or more segments which are attached to each other in regions adjacent the side edge of the lens; and afterwards, completely separating the two or more segments of the lens from each other by scanning a second focus position of a second pulsed laser beam having a second pulse energy higher than the first pulse energy in a second scanning pattern that is co-registered to the first scanning pattern.
INTRAOCULAR LENS
A system and method for inserting an intraocular lens in a patient's eye includes a light source for generating a light beam, a scanner for deflecting the light beam to form an enclosed treatment pattern that includes a registration feature, and a delivery system for delivering the enclosed treatment pattern to target tissue in the patient's eye to form an enclosed incision therein having the registration feature. An intraocular lens is placed within the enclosed incision, wherein the intraocular lens has a registration feature that engages with the registration feature of the enclosed incision. Alternately, the scanner can make a separate registration incision for a post that is connected to the intraocular lens via a strut member.
Apparatus for patterned plasma-mediated laser ophthalmic surgery
A system for ophthalmic surgery on an eye includes: a pulsed laser which produces a treatment beam; an OCT imaging assembly capable of creating a continuous depth profile of the eye; an optical scanning system configured to position a focal zone of the treatment beam to a targeted location in three dimensions in one or more floaters in the posterior pole. The system also includes one or more controllers programmed to automatically scan tissues of the patient's eye with the imaging assembly; identify one or more boundaries of the one or more floaters based at least in part on the image data; iii. identify one or more treatment regions based upon the boundaries; and operate the optical scanning system with the pulsed laser to produce a treatment beam directed in a pattern based on the one or more treatment regions.
PATIENT INTERFACE FOR OPHTHALMOLOGIC DIAGNOSTIC AND INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES
An ophthalmic system may comprise an imaging device having a field of view oriented toward the eye of the patient; a patient interface housing defining a passage therethrough, having a distal end coupled to one or more seals configured to be directly engaged with one or more surfaces of the eye of the patient, and wherein the proximal end is configured to be coupled to the patient workstation such that at least a portion of the field of view of the imaging device passes through the passage; and two or more registration fiducials coupled to the patient interface housing in a predetermined geometric configuration relative to the patient interface housing within the field of view of the imaging device such that they may be imaged by the imaging device in reference to predetermined geometric markers on the eye of the patient which may also be imaged by the imaging device.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR VITREOUS HUMOR SURGERY
A device and a method for the femtosecond laser surgery of tissue, especially in the vitreous humor of the eye. The device includes an ultrashort pulse laser with pulse widths in the range of approximately 10 fs-1 ps, especially approximately 300 fs, pulse energies in the range of approximately 5 nJ-5 J, especially approximately 1-2 J and pulse repetition rates of approximately 10 kHz-10 MHz, especially 500 kHz. The laser system is coupled to a scanner system which allows the spatial variation of the focus in three dimensions (x, y and z). In addition to the therapeutic laser/scanner optical system, the device includes a navigation system.
LASER THERAPEUTIC DEVICE FOR OPHTHALMOLOGY
The object of the invention relates to a field of devices for performing treatments in ophthalmology, preferably to a field of devices for selective laser trabeculoplasty and capsulotomy. The essence of a laser therapeutic device for performing treatments in ophthalmology lies in that it is based on a laser source with a short resonator based on a end pumping technique, wherein the pumping is ascertained by a VCSEL light source (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser). Optimization of constructional and physical properties of a laser source is herewith achieved. The laser source meets all requirements for use in both above-mentioned treatments, wherein the device for capsulotomy is also suited for iridotomy and other surgeries, in which the effects of photodisruption are exploited.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OPTHALMIC MEASUREMENTS AND LASER SURGERY AND METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR SURGICAL PLANNING BASED THEREON
An ophthalmic measurement and laser surgery system includes: a laser source; a corneal topography subsystem; an axis determining subsystem; a ranging subsystem comprising an Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT); and a refractive index determining subsystem. All of the subsystems are under the operative control of a controller. The controller is configure to: operate the corneal topography subsystem to obtain corneal surface information; operate the axis determining subsystem to identify one or more ophthalmic axes of the eye; operate the OCT to sequentially scan the eye in a plurality of OCT scan patterns, the plurality of scan patterns configured to determine an axial length of the eye; operate the refractive index determining subsystem so to determine an index of refraction of one or more ophthalmic tissues, wherein at least one of the corneal surface information, ophthalmic axis information, and axial length is modified based on the determined index of refraction.
Real-Time Laser Modulation And Delivery In Ophthalmic Devices For Scanning, Imaging, And Laser Treatment Of The Eye
Systems and methods of real-time laser control and modulation for ophthalmic devices are described. The systems and methods can be used for precise laser delivery at sub-micron resolution in both laser treatment and scan imaging processes. In various embodiments, the systems can include a laser delivery device useful for surgical eye treatment, a laser delivery device useful for an ophthalmic scan imaging device, or both. In one embodiment, the system includes a laser surgery device integrated with a scan-based ophthalmic imaging apparatus. In such an embodiment, an eye motion signal obtained from the imaging apparatus can be used to provide fine-tuned control of the operation of the surgical laser beam in the laser surgery device.
