Systems and methods for cross-linking treatments of an eye
A system for corneal treatment includes a light source that activates cross-linking in at least one selected region of a cornea treated with a cross-linking agent. The light source delivers photoactivating light to the at least one selected region of the cornea according to a set of parameters. The system includes a controller that receives input relating to the cross-linking agent and the set of parameters. The controller includes computer-readable storage media storing: (A) program instructions for determining cross-linking resulting from reactions involving ROS including at least peroxides, superoxides, and hydroxyl radicals, and (B) program instructions for determining cross-linking from reactions not involving oxygen. The controller executes the program instructions to output a calculated amount of cross-linking in the at least one selected region of the cornea. In response to the calculated amount of cross-linking, the light source adjusts at least one value in the set of parameters.
Composition for treatment of vitreous disease or disorder
A composition includes particles for use in a method for the treatment of a vitreous disease or a vitreous disorder as a light sensitizing agent. Each particle has a surface selected for or adapted for providing mobility of the particle in the vitreous and for binding to collagen aggregates, such as floaters.
Laser eye surgery lens fragmentation
A laser eye surgery system includes a laser to generate a laser beam. A spatial measurement system generates a measurement beam and measure a spatial disposition of an eye. A processor is coupled to the laser and the spatial measurement system, the processor comprising a tangible medium embodying instructions to determine a spatial model of the eye in an eye coordinate reference system based on the measurement beam. The spatial model is mapped from the eye coordinate reference system to a machine coordinate reference system. A laser fragmentation pattern is determined based on a plurality of laser fragmentation parameters. The laser fragmentation pattern and the spatial model is rotated by a first rotation angle such that the spatial model is aligned with the reference axis of the machine coordinate reference system and the rotated laser fragmentation pattern is aligned with the corneal incision.

Systems, devices and methods are provided to deliver microporation medical treatments to improve biomechanics, wherein the system includes a laser for generating a beam of laser radiation on a treatment-axis not aligned with a patient's visual-axis, operable for use in subsurface ablative medical treatments to create an array pattern of micropores that improves biomechanics. The array pattern of micropores is at least one of a radial pattern, a spiral pattern, a phyllotactic pattern, or an asymmetric pattern.
EFFICIENT LASERS FOR TISSUE DISRUPTION
Methods are disclosed for operating a laser. Such methods may comprise operating the laser to emit electromagnetic energy in an infrared range in pulses with a pulse duration of greater than 1 ns. The wavelength of infrared electromagnetic energy may be in a range of about 2.6 to about 3.3 or about 1.8 to about 2.1. The pulses may have a pulse energy selected to deliver an energy density of 2,500 J/cm.sup.3 or greater. The laser electromagnetic energy may be delivered for a medical application, such as cataract surgery to break apart a cataractous lens by photodisruption.
