SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MODIFYING A SEGMENT OF AN UPLOADED MEDIA FILE
Systems and techniques for modifying a subsection of uploaded media are presented. An instruction component receives a media file and a media enhancement instruction that includes enhancement data and media interval data for a first segment of the media file. A processing component modifies the first segment of the media file associated with the media interval data based on the enhancement data to generate an edited first segment of the media file. A finalization component generates an edited version of the media file that includes the edited first segment of the media file and at least a second segment of the media file that is not modified based on the enhancement data.
Information processing device, information processing method, and information processing program
An information processing device performs control to record deletion information indicating that an object with a designated object ID has been deleted, on a recording medium, in a case where a specific object ID is designated and an instruction to delete the object is input, for a magnetic tape on which an object that includes data and metadata related to the data and that is assigned an object ID as identification information is recorded, the object being assigned an object ID in a case where the object is updated different from an object ID of the object before the update.
Recording device, readout device, recording method, recording program, readout method, readout program, and magnetic tape
A recording device includes: a recording unit that records plural objects including data and metadata related to the data on a portable recording medium, and executes a process of recording first set data, which is a set of the metadata included in the object, at every predetermined timing after recording at least one of the objects, wherein each piece of the first set data is a set of the metadata included in the object recorded after recording of immediately preceding recorded first set data.
Erasure coding magnetic tapes for minimum latency and adaptive parity protection feedback
A magnetic tape device or system can store erasure encoded data that generates a multi-dimensional erasure code corresponding to an erasure encoded object comprising a code-word (CW). The multi-dimensional erasure code enables using a single magnetic tape in response to a random object/file request, and correct for an error within the single magnetic tape without using other tapes. Encoding logic can further utilize other magnetic tapes to generate additional parity tapes that recover data from an error of the single magnetic tape in response to the error satisfying a threshold severity for a reconstruction of the erasure coded object or chunk(s) of the CW. The encoding logic can be controlled, at least in part, by one or more iterative coding processes between multiple erasure code dimensions that are orthogonal to one another.

Index file writing on tape storage media
An approach for improving the writing an index file on tape storage by switching, via a tape drive, write sequences in an index partition, in which the tape drive switches between a normal wrap sequence and a reverse wrap sequence. Further, embodiments write the index information by the normal wrap sequence during initialization of the tape media, in which the tape media is being mounted for the first time. Additionally, embodiments write the index information by the reverse wrap sequence during an unmounting the tape media for the first time, and wherein the tape media is mounted based on index information written at a rearmost end of one or more data partitions during second and subsequent mounting.
DATA STORAGE DEVICE READING DATA FROM MAGNETIC TAPE IN FORWARD AND REVERSE DIRECTION
A data storage device is disclosed comprising at least one head configured to access a magnetic tape. The head is used to write contiguously to the magnetic tape a first preamble, followed by a first sync mark, followed by symbols of a first data sector, followed by a second sync mark, followed by a second preamble, followed by a third sync mark, followed by symbols of a second data sector.
System and method for write protecting portions of magnetic tape storage media
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium includes a tape having a plurality of partitions configured for storing data, and a plurality of read-only partition identifiers, each read-only partition identifier associated with one of the plurality of partitions and readable by a tape drive having a processor and memory for writing and reading tape data. Each read-only partition identifier selectively designates a corresponding one of the partitions as read-only to prevent data from being written to the designated read-only partition by the tape drive.

TRANSPARENT COPYING
A computer-implemented method includes initiating a copy request for a data storage cartridge. The data storage cartridge includes data storage media having host data thereon. The method also includes transparently loading the data storage cartridge into a first data storage drive of a data storage library and establishing drive-to-drive communication for copying data from the data storage media in the first data storage drive to data storage media in a second data storage drive. The method includes copying data from the data storage media in the first data storage drive to the data storage media in the second data storage drive. A system includes a processor and logic integrated with the processor, executable by the processor, or integrated with and executable by the processor. The logic is configured to perform the foregoing method.
