SHARING DIGITAL MEDIA ASSETS FOR PRESENTATION WITHIN AN ONLINE SOCIAL NETWORK

A method for reducing the number of images or the length of a video from a digital image collection using a social network, includes receiving a digital image collection captured by a user to be viewed by a viewer; wherein the viewer and the user are members of the same social network and using a processor to access the social network to determine a relationship between a viewer and the user. The method further includes using the processor to determine a set of summarization parameters based on the relationship between the viewer and the user and using the processor to reduce the number of images or the length of the video from the digital image collection using the determined set of summarization parameters to be viewed by the viewer.

In order to provide a recording and reproducing device that allows a user to select and manage arbitrary play lists, a unit of management for managing all registered play list information and an upper management hierarchical level are added. The unit of management is adapted to be handled on the same level with unified information that indicates a reproduction range of all AV data. User-defined unified information is adapted to be handled on the added management hierarchical level. The user-defined unified information is formed to allow arbitrary reproduction ranges contained on a lower hierarchical level to be registered.

Virtual world generation engine

A virtual world generation engine and methods for generating virtual worlds from images collected from various sources, including crowdsourced images. A virtual world generation engine may obtain images (e.g., digital photographs, digital video frames, etc.) related to a particular real-world scene, combine the images using image processing techniques such as image stitching techniques to generate composite images representing a view of the scene, and generate models from the composite images. The models may be used in rendering video content representing virtual worlds generated from the collected images of real-world scenes; the video content may be streamed to client device(s). Obtaining the images, generating models, rendering video content from the models, and streaming the video content may be performed in response to user interactions with video content on the client device(s) to allow interactive exploration of the virtual worlds in real-time or near-real time.

Change-dependent pre-export for video editing projects

Techniques are described for pre-exporting chunks of video content during video editing of a video editing project. For example, the chunks of the video editing project can be monitored for changes. When a change is detected to a chunk, the chunk can be pre-exported as an independent chunk that is combinable with other pre-exported chunks and without encoding or re-encoding the pre-exported chunks. In addition, the monitoring and pre-exporting can be performed while the video editing project is editable by a user of the video editing project. When the video editing project is ready to be finalized, the pre-exported chunks can be combined to generate, at least in part, a media file. The generated media file can then be output.

Disclosed are Multipurpose Media Players that enable users to create transcriptions, closed captions, and/or logs of digitized recordings, that enable the presentation of transcripts, closed captions, logs, and digitized recordings in a correlated manner to users, that enable users to compose one or more scenes of a production, and that enable users to compose storyboards for a production. The multipurpose media players can be embodied within Internet browser environments; thereby providing high availability of the multipurpose players across software platforms, networks, and physical locations.

Seamless representation of video and geometry

Processes for reviewing and editing a computer-generated animation are provided. In one example process, multiple images representing segments of a computer-generated animation may be displayed. In response to a selection of one or more of the images, geometry data associated with the corresponding segment(s) of computer-generated animation may be accessed. An editable geometric representation of the selected segment(s) of computer-generated animation may be displayed based on the accessed geometry data. In some examples, previously rendered representations and/or geometric representations of the same or other segments of the computer-generated animation may be concurrently displayed adjacent to, overlaid with, or in any other desired manner with the displayed geometric representation of the selected segment's) of computer-generated animation.
