A hard disk drive includes a base deck and a cover. The cover is coupled to the base deck to create an enclosure. The hard disk drive also includes tape that covers at least a portion of the cover and the base deck. The tape includes an adhesive layer, which includes an adhesive material and a moisture-absorbent material.

According to one embodiment, a humidity control filter used in a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus includes a housing that houses a magnetic recording medium and disposed inside the housing and close to a vent connecting the inside of the housing and outside air. The humidity control filter including a water-repellency coating having ventilation, a first adsorption layer of a porous solid having characteristics of type III isotherm according to IUPAC classification, and a second adsorption layer of a porous solid having characteristics represented by type I adsorption isotherm according to the IUPAC classification, which are provided in order from the vent.

A filter assembly has a housing. The housing has an inner body and an outer body surrounding at least a portion of the inner body. The inner body has a base extending in a lateral direction and a first sidewall extending axially outward from the base. The inner body defines a cavity. The first sidewall defines a perimetric surface around the cavity. A first filter media extends across the perimetric surface and across the cavity. An adsorbent is disposed in the cavity. The outer body has a second sidewall laterally outward from and surrounding the first sidewall. The second sidewall spans at least 50% of the axial length of the first sidewall. The outer body has a first axial end and a second axial end and a retainer portion extending laterally inward from the first axial end. The retainer portion is positioned axially outward from the first filter media.

According to one embodiment, a humidity control filter used in a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus includes a housing that houses a magnetic recording medium and disposed inside the housing and close to a vent connecting the inside of the housing and outside air. The humidity control filter including a water-repellency coating having ventilation, a first adsorption layer of a porous solid having characteristics of type III isotherm according to IUPAC classification, and a second adsorption layer of a porous solid having characteristics represented by type I adsorption isotherm according to the IUPAC classification, which are provided in order from the vent.

The present disclosure relates to electronic devices that include one or more solid reactants that react with one or more of water vapor and carbon dioxide gas to form a gaseous oxidizing agent component within the electronic device. In some embodiments, the electronic devices include a solid carrier that includes the one or more reactants. The present disclosure also relates to electronic devices that include a container that includes the one or more reactants in a manner that the gaseous oxidizing component can transfer from the container to the interior gas space of the electronic device. The magnetic tape cartridge includes a magnetic tape that is accommodated in the magnetic tape cartridge while being wound around a reel hub. A water absorption amount of the magnetic tape measured after the magnetic tape cartridge is stored in a storage environment of a temperature of 32° C. and a relative humidity of 80% for 10 days is more than 0.30 g as a value in terms of a length of the magnetic tape of 1000 m, and the water absorption amount is a value measured in a measurement environment with a temperature of 21° C. and a relative humidity of 50% within 1 hour after the storage.

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to apparatuses and methods involving a desiccant chamber and related componentry, as may be utilized for controlling humidity in electrical enclosures. As may be consistent with one or more embodiments, an environmental control module (ECM) includes a desiccant chamber with a desiccant material therein, first and second membranes in a pathway extending from the desiccant chamber and through respective openings in the ECM, and a gasket and enclosure on the ECM which seal the pathway. A seal in the pathway seals the opening in ECM leading to the first membrane and desiccant chamber during evacuation and fill of an electrical enclosure in which the ECM may be employed, and can be broken to couple the desiccant to the electrical enclosure.

A disk drive, has a housing structure enclosing a disk and at least one recording head. The drive includes a plurality of capsules each comprising oxygen gas enclosed within a membrane. An oxygen diffusion rate of the membrane is selected to release oxygen into the housing structure at a rate that compensates for oxygen depletion within the housing structure.
