SYSTEM FOR LASER-BASED AMETROPIA CORRECTION, AND METHOD FOR THE ALIGNMENT THEREOF
A method for aligning a system for laser-based ametropia correction relative to a patient's eye to be treated is disclosed. Predefined pre-operative measurement data which characterize at least predetermined structures of the patient's eye is provided. The predetermined structures include a part of the patient's eye to be treated. In addition, the method includes measuring at least one part of the predetermined structures of the patient's eye using an OCT system immediately before and/or during treatment for ametropia correction of the patient's eye and providing OCT measurement data, and comparing the OCT measurement data and the predefined pre-operative measurement data and preparing comparative data. The method also includes ascertaining a position and/or orientation of the part of the patient's eye to be treated relative to the system and aligning the system relative to the patient's eye using the ascertained position and/or orientation of the part of the patient's eye.

An ophthalmological device comprises a scanner system with a first z-scanner, with first scan performance characteristics, and a second z-scanner, with second scan performance characteristics. A circuit is configured to control the scanner system to move the focal spot to target locations along a processing path defined by the treatment control data. The circuit is further configured to determine from the treatment control data a depth scanning requirement, representing modulation of the depth of the focal spot along the processing path, to divide the depth scanning requirement into a first and second depth scanning components for the first and second z-scanner, respectively, and to control the first z-scanner using the first depth scanning component, and to control the second z-scanner using the second depth scanning component.

A multiple-fiber scanning ophthalmic transscleral laser probe system capable of firing multiple laser spots sequentially on the perilimbal area through the use of multiple fibers and an optical switching mechanism is disclosed. The design aims to reduce probe motion on the surface of the eye during transscleral cyclophotocoagulation and pulsed transscleral laser therapy by allowing multiple laser shots to be fired sequentially in a partial circular pattern without any probe movement and without the use of moving parts inside the probe. Sequential firing from a fixed probe location allows precise power level for each treatment spot and prevents the probe tip getting caught on or damaging the conjunctiva.
