An earpiece including an intra-auricular support, a projection element coupled thereto, and a flexible body disposed thereon and inside an external ear canal of an ear, and a moldable earpiece material moldable about the intra-auricular support to conform to the auricle of an ear and curable to provide a fixed configuration of the earpiece.

Hearing protection systems
10130517 · 2018-11-20 ·

A hearing protection system including an earplug moveably displaceable in a plane covering an ear of a user from an open position to a closed position in response to a signal received from a trigger mechanism. When in the open position, the earplug is positioned adjacent to the ear of the user to allow the user to hear ambient sound at an unchanged volume. When in the closed position, the earplug is positioned over the ear of the user to at least partly block the ambient sound and allow the user to hear the ambient sound at a reduced volume that is less than the unchanged volume.

SEALING ASSEMBLY FOR INFLATABLE IN-EAR DEVICE
20180289549 · 2018-10-11 ·

An inflatable in-ear device includes a core member with a platform provided with a sealing assembly in the form of a locating recess for the registration of a retention ring formed around a defining opening of a sheath arranged in close circumjacent manner around the platform attached to the core member, an abutment surface being formed on a capping for the platform and the core member whereby in use positive location of the retention ring within the recess is achieved by the closure of the recess by the abutment surface. A space is defined between the sheath and the core member for the injection of a settable material used for the inflation of the sheath once the device is emplaced within the ear canal of the ear.

EVALUATION OF AN IMPLANTED PROSTHESIS

Evaluating an implanted hearing prosthesis, including operating the implanted hearing prosthesis, capturing sound generated by a transducer of the prosthesis during said operation, and comparing the captured sound to a sound model.

NOISE REDUCTIONS DEVICE

A noise reductions device is provided the device includes an outer member having an inlet opening and an outlet opening; a hollow spherical member mounted in the opening and configured for mixing sound waves; a cannula having an inlet tip in communication with the hollow spherical member, and an outlet tip configured for transmitting sound waves therethrough; wherein the cannula includes at least one winding between the inlet tip and the outlet tip.

ACOUSTIC FILTER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
20180277087 · 2018-09-27 ·

An injection moulded acoustic filter comprising a foil piece or filter structure having a plurality of micro-slits configured to act as acoustic channels through the foil piece for filtering sound waves impinging the foil piece. The micro-slits have a maximum slit width across a surface of the foil piece of less than one hundred micrometres and a combined slit length along the surface of the foil piece of at least five millimetres. An earplug comprising the acoustic filter. A method and mould for manufacturing the acoustic filter.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR OCCLUDING A DUCT AND ATTENUATING SOUND

Systems and methods for occluding a duct and attenuating sound may be provided. In some embodiments, a device for attenuating sound passing through a duct or orifice may include a body sized and shaped to be inserted, at least partially, into a duct or orifice. The body may have an interior volume that contains a fluid suspension. In some embodiments, the fluid suspension may include a plurality of gas-filled spheres dispersed in an interstitial fluid. The gas-filled spheres may increase an acoustic attenuation of the fluid suspension relative to the interstitial fluid alone.

Method for external ear canal pressure regulation to alleviate disorder symptoms
12102506 · 2024-10-01 · ·

A method for external ear canal pressure regulation to alleviate one or more symptoms associated with a disorder or treat one or more disorders, the method including providing a fluid transfer device which generates a fluid flow of a fluid through an earplug, the earplug having an earplug external surface configured to sealably engage an external ear canal wall as a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure; sealably engaging the earplug of the fluid transfer device with the external ear canal wall as the barrier between the external ear canal pressure and the ambient pressure; and operating the fluid transfer device to generate the fluid flow of the fluid through the earplug to achieve an external ear canal pressure differential between the external ear canal pressure and the ambient pressure effective to alleviate a disorder symptom or treat a disorder.

Sound attenuation devices

Sound attenuation devices are provided that may be temporarily worn in a person's ear. The devices generally include a first flange that is configured to be disposed in a person's ear; a second flange that is positioned proximate to the first flange and is also configured to be disposed in the person's ear (with the second flange having a proximate end that exhibits an oblong perimeter); and a cylindrical shaft extending from an interior portion of the second flange. The shaft includes an integrally connected pull tab; it extends beyond the proximate end of the second flange; and the shaft includes an integrally formed reinforcing member that spans an exterior side of the shaft and at least a portion of the pull tab. The devices further include a sound filter disposed within an internal cavity of the shaft.

Hearing protection and noise measurement system
12096185 · 2024-09-17 ·

A hearing protection system includes an earplug and an electronic hearing device inserted into a cavity in the earplug. The electronic hearing device includes electronics that incorporate digital signal processing to provide sound amplification and fast compression programming to shut off sound amplification to protect the user when a loud noise is detected. The housing of the electronic hearing device has a sound aperture for emitting the sound from a speaker assembly. The sound aperture is aligned with an opening of a sound tube in the earplug so that sound generated by the speaker assembly can propagate through the sound tube to the user's ear canal. The electronic hearing device may include a short-range communication interface for receiving a short-range communication signal that carries information. The system may include a noise dosimeter that generates noise exposure measurement data related to a dose of noise exposure over a period of time.
