Compact tape measure retraction mechanism
A device is disclosed including a compact tape measure housing enclosing a tape spool with a multi-segment spring-loaded tape retention mechanism having a tape spool, a primary rewind spring, a secondary rewind spring coupled together via a rotating spring coupling. In various embodiments, the primary and the secondary springs may be placed side-by-side making the two springs and the overall tape measure device smaller in diameter. The primary and the secondary rewind springs are coupled to the tape spool and the housing via an axle pin. The diameter of the tape measure housing may be reduced if two or more rewind springs are used instead of a single one. The primary and the secondary rewind springs operate in series. On pulling the measuring tape, the primary spring is compressed, causing the secondary rewind spring to compress. On release of the tape, the springs operate in reverse, retracting the tape.
Compact-sized tape measure
Provided is a compact-sized tape measure including a housing, a reel rotatably mounted in the housing, and a blade wound on an outer surface of the reel and drawn out through an inlet of the housing, in which the reel includes a spring providing a force for winding the blade and a bobbin providing an inner space receiving the spring and an outer space for winding and storing the blade, and a width of a spring receiving space capable of receiving the spring in the inner space is larger than a width of a blade receiving space capable of receiving the blade in the outer space.
Tape Measure with Retraction Spring Adjacent to Tape Reel
A tool, such as a tape measure, including a spring-based retraction system is shown. The retraction system includes a spiral spring that is located outside of and adjacent to a tape reel about which a tape blade is wound. This arrangement provides for a decreased housing height which improves the ability to grip and handle the tape measure.
Tape measure with tape blade profile increasing tape standout
A tape measure, including a tape measure blade having a cross-sectional profile to increase standout is provided. The profile has a curved shape that increases standout. The tape blade may have a flat width greater than or equal to 29 mm and less than 32 mm.
TAPE MEASURE HAVING INSTALLABLE BOBBIN
Disclosed is a tape measure which includes a first housing module including a first housing providing a spring space on one side, a rotational shaft mounted rotatably on the first housing, a spring located in the spring space, the spring coupled to the first housing by one end and coupled to the rotational shaft by the other end, and a first cover covering the spring space, an installable bobbin rotatably mounted around the rotational shaft while being in close contact with the rotational shaft or the first cover of the first housing module is wound, and a second housing module including a second housing assembled with the first housing and a power transmission part for transmitting the rotation of the rotational shaft to the bobbin, wherein the first housing, the spring, the rotational shaft, the power transmission part, and the bobbin are mechanically connected when the bobbin is installed onto the first housing module and the second hosing module is assembled to the first housing module.
Device for measuring the circumference of an object
The present invention relates to a device for measuring an object, comprising a winder of a measuring element arranged to form a loop about the said object, which has at least one wall and an exit opening arranged to allow the exit of at least one unwound portion of the said measuring element, which is defined between the said exit opening and a distal end of the said measuring element, which is provided with a connecting element that abuts against the said exit opening, and a connecting means being located at a distance d from the said exit opening, characterised in that the said connecting means is located on the said at least one wall, is adjacent to the said exit opening, is presented in the form of a protrusion which extends towards the said distal end, and is arranged to receive the said connecting element in a stationary manner.
Tape Measure with Fluid-Based Retraction Speed Controller
A tool, such as a tape measure, including a spring-based retraction system is shown. The tape measure includes a fluid-based retraction speed controller. The speed controller may be formed from a rotor/stator arrangement. The rotor is coupled to the reel and the stator is coupled to the housing opposing the rotor. The rotor converts some rotational energy from tape reel into movement of a fluid (e.g., movement of air, movement of oil, etc. through friction) which acts to slow or limit the retraction/rotational speed of the reel as the retraction spring expands driving the reel during tape blade retraction.
Tape measure with variable preformed stressed spiral spring retraction system
A tool, such as a tape measure, including a spring-based retraction system is shown. The spring-based retraction system is driven by a spiral spring, that has a variable preformed stress profile along the length of the spring.
