Managing conflicts using conflict islands
In some implementations, a computing device can manage conflicts using conflict islands. For example, when a computing device receives bulk map data updates, the computing device can determine conflicts between point updates (e.g., small, ad hoc feature edits) in the current map data and the bulk map data updates. When the bulk map data updates are merged with the current map data, a point update for a map feature may conflict with the bulk update for the feature. The computing device can determine a perimeter of stable map features around the conflicted feature. The map features within the perimeter can correspond to a conflict island. The bulk updates for features within a conflict island (e.g., within the perimeter) can be deferred until resolved while bulk updates for features outside of a conflict island can be applied to the current map data.
Crowd sourced mapping with robust structural features
A location and mapping service is described that creates a global database of indoor navigation maps through crowd-sourcing and data fusion technologies. The navigation maps consist of a database of geo-referenced, uniquely described features in the multi-dimensional sensor space (e.g., including structural, RF, magnetic, image, acoustic, or other data) that are collected automatically as a tracked mobile device is moved through a building (e.g. a person with a mobile phone or a robot). The feature information can be used to create building models as one or more tracked devices traverse a building.
System and method for automatically annotating a map
A system for automatically annotating a map includes: a robot; a server operably connected to the robot; file storage configured to store files, the file storage operably connected to the server; an annotations database operably connected to the server, the annotations database comprising map annotations; an automatic map annotation service operably connected to the server, the automatic map annotation service configured to automatically do one or more of create a map of an item of interest and annotate a map of an item of interest; a queue of annotation requests operably connected to the automatic annotation service; and a computer operably connected to the server, the computer comprising a graphic user interface (GUI) usable by a human user.
System and method of creating custom dynamic neighborhoods for individual drivers
A system and methods relate to, inter alia, aggregating geolocation data and auxiliary data associated with a plurality of driving activities. The system and methods may further identify the plurality of driving activities that have common geolocation data points based on a geolocation threshold. The system and methods may further determine, from among the identified plurality of driving activities, one or more designated driving activities based on an auxiliary threshold. The system and methods may further generate the neighborhood map that includes the one or more designated driving activities. The system and methods may further transmit a visual representation of, or electronic message detailing, the neighborhood map to a mobile device of a user for display, or otherwise causing the neighborhood map to be displayed to the user.
INDOOR POSITIONING PATHS MAPPING TOOL
A computer-implemented method for providing a mapping tool with a semi-automatic mode of operation, comprising: retrieving map data relative to an indoor environment from an indoor positioning system (IPS); collecting sensor data from one or more units of a mobile device while the mobile device in transit within the indoor environment and sending the collected sensor data to the IPS; processing the sensor data received by the IPS in order to return to the mobile device one or more paths suggestions; and enabling a user to accept, reject or modify each path suggestion and updating the IPS accordingly.
CROWDSOURCING ANNOTATIONS OF ROADWAY INFORMATION
A map object management system including object information for objects in the environment around a location. The objects generally relating to the roadway on which a user is travelling. The map object management system provides a user with queries regarding detected objects that fail to meet confidence thresholds regarding the identification of the object. The map object management system receives answers to the queries to crowdsource uncertain or inaccurate object identifications for use in a map service to provide accurate map information to users.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND PROGRAM
An information processing apparatus includes: a map expression data storage unit in which two or more pieces of map expression data expressing a map are stored, the data being associated with one or more attribute values containing region specifying information for specifying a region that is being expressed; a receiving unit that receives position specifying information for specifying a position from a terminal apparatus; a data acquiring unit that acquires one or more pieces of map expression data associated with region specifying information corresponding to a position specified with the position specifying information, from the map expression data storage unit; and a transmitting unit that transmits the one or more pieces of map expression data acquired by the data acquiring unit, to the terminal apparatus.
MAP UPDATE APPARATUS, MAP UPDATE SYSTEM, MAP UPDATE METHOD, AND PROGRAM
A map update apparatus includes: a storage part that stores map information; an acquisition part that acquires, from a vehicle, sensor detection information based on a detection result of a sensor that is provided on the vehicle; and an estimation part that estimates a position of an entrance of a facility of which a position of an entrance is unknown among facilities that are included in the map information based on the sensor detection information that is acquired by the acquisition part.
Map information system
A map information system includes: at least one vehicle; and a map server configured to communicate with the vehicle and store a high-precision map, wherein the vehicle includes: a turn signal lever sensor configured to detect a turn signal operation by a driver; an external environment sensor configured to acquire information on surroundings of the vehicle; an own vehicle position identifying device configured to identify a position of the vehicle; and a controller configured to transmit, to the map server, the turn signal operation, the position of the vehicle, and the information on the surroundings, and the map server updates the high-precision map based on the information acquired by the external environment sensor when comparing the high-precision map stored in the map server with the turn signal operation and determining that a branching route is present.
